Very nice collection! Thanks for the pictures.Mutt the Hoople wrote:There's part of the collection... Three more in the closet. Vintage GoGo boots (they fit too), leather jacket signed by Ian Hunter, (Mott the Hoople, Cleveland Rocks).
I don't know about Amerivespa. I've been lurking around the Modern Vespa site and... I like the vibe here better. It's more fun. I think I'm a Buddy girl who happens to own a Vespa too. But I am trying to convince a friend to come here for a visit and to ride two up to the Lake of the Ozarks perhaps. We are talking about a trip to Memphis... But it would be a bit far for the first one. But we are talking a out a weekend of music in the fall, the Stax museum, Sun Records and of course Elvis. He's a Mott the Hoople/Ian Hunter fan as well and it will be 40 years this year when after a particularly great show, Ian Hunter and Joe Walsh sort of crashed Elvis' home... To be politely asked to leave by Elvis' maid Alberta. Ian then wrote the song "All The Way To Memphis". Lol. We do not plan on breaking in to Graceland though.
It sounds like there will be quite a few MB folks at Amerivespa, so hopefully the vibes will be fine. I've only checked MV a few times, but recently I was on fairly regularly to follow the Cannonball thread. Seems to be a good group of people. If not, I'm sure I can find an establishment with cold brews and, if I have to, entertain myself (which is not a foreign situation to me

Amerivespa isn't really reflected by the tone of ModernVespa, though. I call it Scooter Summer Camp. Many MB members will be there, as will many from MV and many who just show up from wherever!

Lol. Sounds fun. I'm sure the People on the Modern Vespa board are quite nice... I see some familiar faces/names from here over there. I just like the humor here. Maybe also because I saw a favorite helmet thread and the third poster had a Ruby. I have a Fulmer. I felt unworthy. Lol. No Mutts allowed.

That would be Judy and she's a great gal. While she prizes her Ruby it isn't her every day helmet but for special occasions (and not when it may rain for some reasonMutt the Hoople wrote:Lol. Like all boards there are good people and some who you may wish were not there.
Amerivespa will have just as many, possibly more folks who are not riding Vespas as those who are. Even those who have Vespas may be on something else they own. I fall in that category because I'll be on my BV 500 not my GTS or my Buddy. In large part because I'll be coming from Colorado where the only scoots we have available are the BVs. In part because it will be 1,200 miles or more each way and for those distances I prefer the bigger scoot though I've done it on a Vespa GTS before.

Hell, if I had the money and less of a compulsion to protect my face, I'd own a Ruby, too.Mutt the Hoople wrote:Lol. Sounds fun. I'm sure the People on the Modern Vespa board are quite nice... The communities are very different. MB was founded by MV members but quickly grew into something else altogether. I used to spend a LOT more time there but other responsibilities have pulled me away. Well, that and a bunch of haters.

Wellllll. Okay then. I can't wait to get my GTV home. It looks like a vintage amusement park ride and I want some thrills. I spent half the evening on a site dedicated to the old Chain of Rocks Fun Fair amusement park that once graced a hilltop just off of Riverview Blvd. in Saint Louis before times changed and Six Flags came to town. Sadly it is long gone BUT there is Coney Island in Cincinnati and boy would that be a fun trip. Hmmmmm

Thanks. I'm not selling or trading in my Buddy... Unless it gets too expensive to insure two scooters. And the property tax on them. Instead of taxing me more for my scooters than my car I think the great state of Missouri should give me a tax break for sucking up a lot less gas and wasting less of out natural resources. LOL. But that ain't gonna happen!
