Who's done a retrofit EFI kit?

Post by redhandmoto »

Just poking around on the Ecotrons website, looking at their small engine EFI kit, said to be adaptable for carbed engines 35 to 300cc. Kit seems very complete - $399. http://www.ecotrons.com/

Labor costs for installation (something way beyond my skill set) are probably a show-stopper; still, interesting to think about swapping EFI into, say, a Vino 125.

Anybody seen one of these in the wild?

Oh man!! I'd bet it'd be pretty badass to have an EFI turbo Stella! At least until the engine blew up.

Do it! EFI kit - $399; Turbo kit - $299.

$700 bucks - epic project - imagine that Stella turbo spooling up! Yowza!

It seems kind of generic. The trick would be to get the correct fuel mapping. But, that being said...

Buy a used Kymco Agility, blow $700 in parts and roll it into the shop. If it fails, you're out $2k at max for a project bike. If it runs and succeeds, then you have a true sleeper for Amerivespa!

**EDIT**

Just noticed it was 2-stroke. Bummer. Well, I suppose start with a used Buddy 50 and then move up to the Stella

Tuning isn't as easy as you think...Thats why the when I was in the car biz we charged $125 an hour for it on Subarus.

This is a nice kit, but 2k is probably a reasonable estimate by the time you are done or more. I like EFI, but that carb on my bike works just fine

The turbo?...oh the ideas that gives me... turbo blur 220 anyone?
Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?

^^

You said it, Bro. Just finished reading thru a long thread over on scootdawg (asked the same question there) wherein a very experienced and talented wrencher installed an Ecotrons kit. In this case, the tuning presented fewer problems than the installation - lots of fitting, working-around, small-scale fabrication.

Way the hell above my pay grade!
