One Reason I Love Vintage!

Post by BuddyRaton »

Yesterday was the Dania Beach Vintage Motorcycle Show. They have a scooter division..but the main focus is MC's

Any way...I entered my 64 GS and 68 SS180 cause...well it's fun to hang out and talk scooters all day!

Of course there are always people that say "I had one of those" of course I ask ...you had a GS or an SS? and the answerer is usually "I dunno...I had a Vespa.

Today an older Italian gent stopped by with his American nephew. The nephew translated that Uncle had one when he was younger...of course I asked "a GS" and the answer was "yes...a GS...I have a photo of him on it in my phone.

I asked him to have Uncle sit on my GS and email the old photo to me while I snapped him.

Here you go!

And on my GS January 26, 2013!

Nice family, fun guy and such a neat opportunity!

I'm going to email a copy of the new photo and then photoshop something together...just because it would be cool!

It would be great to see that new photo in b/w.
Just a quick put-together but you get the idea:

I received some additional info today!

My great uncle was born in a town called Campobello di Mazara province of Trapani in Sicily. Picture was taken in 1957 in Switzerland he was 19 yrs. old ,he was a firemen there for a few yrs. and then moved back to Sicily. Thank you he had a great time and if you can send me the website so we can check it out and so I can send it to him too.

That would make it a GS 150!

I wonder if the nephew has access to a higher-res version or the original.
It could be a really nice project if you had the pic from the 60's in a better format.

oh my god, that's so cool!

I just read this thread to my boyfriend and his question was, I wonder how useful the scoot was in Switzerland. Ugh, Mr. Practicality!
