umm I might not fully understand some of the problems that are being discussed. I was hoping to find out if trailers were cheap. or whether I should just go ahead and build one... I didn't realize people would have problems with building one.
When I look at the trailers they all look like a wheelbarrow wheel on a metal frame, that can be connected to a single point on the moped "centered". which is easy enough to build.
or designing the frame so you can just bold a moped front fork to provided suspension.
Am I off my rocker here?

It seems like a street legal, over 50cc scooter trailer is kind of a holy grail. if you can make one yourself you get points with us here, and if you can make enough to sell them you'd get money. If you already have a good idea to and an itch to make it, what other incentive could you need?

Its a PAV scooter trailer replica, to look just like... like...

...Like the Ceveta with the PAV trailer...

- I called the 2nd Shop's 800# and left a message late yesterday, still waiting for a call back. Plus I emailed "my local Royal Enfield dealer" (same as my Genuine dealer) and I am eagerly awaiting to hear from them too.

Personally I was never certain of a side car because of the huge weight and loss of power. Plus My wife already has her own buddy. A Scooter Trailer is Just was I am looking for, for the longer trips and even for, I dunno Shopping- whatever. I really hope this does not become a Fluke or something.

These are in the Royal Enfield catalog and I think the price is $600. Maybe what I saw was wholesale. Started begging my dealer to order a red one—for display of course!

Dang you beat me! I am not sure if that price is whole sale or not either, but I WANT.

I looked more into that Company in India that makes them: INDER AUTO INDUSTRIES.
It Appears THEY manufacture the Royal Enfield Motorcycles And they may also manufacture the very same sidecars that Genuine brings to the states. so they appear to be a very high quality operation and I am feeling even better about this trailer and the company.

I just hope the minimum order as a enfield dealer isn't more than what my dealer wants to bite into. They are "Unique Rides", and they specialize in sidecars, so this would hopefully fit right in... but I haven't been there all winter and have no idea how their sales looked.
I could only personally gaurantee one sale (mine) or maybe 2 if they can hook one up to the buddy- My wife would love to be able to take the buddy grocery shopping- (I'm just not convinced the 2 cubic feet would do it.)

My dealer rides a Stella with the trailer that Eric has described. If I recall
correctly it is made in India and is designed for Vespa/Stella.

PS: It is an Inder and he rides it back and forth to the dealership. Says it
does ok around town. Not a lot of space in it, my TGB D150 delivery scoots
box is as big.

I started out on a Yamaha Razz.

I wouldn't trust it to tow anything. I could tell it took more "oomph" from the engine when I dared to carry a gallon of milk home on the rear rack.

The Razz did get me into being addicted to scooters, so it did have a few things going for it.

The trailer, to me, is a problematic concept to begin with unless you are
running a motorcycle, 1200ccs or more. I will stick to my sidecar or my TGB
Delivery scoots. :

The ScootBoot is not street legal and is intended for 50cc bikes only per their homepage.

I hate to resurrect old threads but since everyone did just recently then here it goes:

I intend to build one for my trip. I'm very confident with fiberglass, and workshop tools. I have a stick welder, and metal shops near by that sell metal pieces. I'm intending to pull it with my FLY 150.

I'm trying to emulate this:



Of course, without the tent part. At least its not going to look that nice of a tent. Maybe just a flat surface to sleep on, or put my Eureka tent on top.

I'm going to use some second hand scooter wheels,, I will make the fiberglass front, and the entire thing will be covered in fiberglass, so that its waterproof.

we'll see how it goes. Whenever I start working on it I'll post pictures, or a link to my blog where its coming together.

The one you are showing as an illustration is very interesting. Keep in mind
that weight of the trailer will be a major consideration. Good luck on your

JJ...I want to see you succeed . COOL idea, but you can't stick weld aluminum and steel will get heavy fast. Same with fiberglass, keep it light. I want to see you do it.
