Frustrated. This aggression will not stand, man.

Post by jmazza »

So we're a one car, one scooter family with a three-year-old boy. I've been commuting on the Buddy (so far my wife doesn't have her permit so it's ALL MINE!) just about every day since getting it but our son just went back to school yesterday and we realized that due to my flexible work schedule, on Tuesdays I will be dropping my son and my wife off at school/work in the car and picking them both up later.

That translates to: No Buddy Tuesdays.

Cars are no fun.

I hate Tuesdays. This aggression will not stand, man. 8)

Dude, just be happy you can ride the other days. At least you're not riding a bus full of coughing sneezing sweating strangers on Tuesdays.

And be happy you're in Florida where you can ride more often than most in the winter.

Personally, if I can ride two or three days a week this time of year I am pretty happy.

Your title post reminds me of a great ride I did last summer.
I was riding my Vespa ET2, which I no longer have.
The Big Lebowski was playing at The world famous Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. I had several groups of friends going and decided what better way to get there then on The scoot!
So I rode the ET the 30 plus miles out West Colfax Ave. parked right at the theatre, had a Caucasian, and enjoyed the movie.

Goodtimes.

I have grown resentful of the days I have to drive to work. Hasn't happened in a while. Now that I'm downtown, at least I can take the train. LA trains are rarely crowded.

But, yeah, caging it kinda sucks.

Meanwhile... The Dude abides.

The worst thing about getting used to my Buddy Love then having to drive a car (Camry or CR-V) is when I have to pull out in traffic and am used to hammering it to get into the traffic flow. Most cars have no cajones! And cars are drab anyway. That's the Buddy legacy: pullout power and spoils you for everything else.

Yes, like Jmazza I live in South Florida and can ride essentially every day, but 7 days a week may not be enough!

That's not as bad as my possible situation.

I got the Buddy to commute to work. We have an on-site day care that my 2 year old goes to M-W-F. Currently, my wife brings him in after I've already come to work since I come in earlier than it opens. Then she picks him up as he does not stay all day.

BUT - she is most likely to take a full time job M-F which will require me to adjust my schedule AND bring my son in with me. So that translates to no more scootering. At least no more mandatory scootering.

Now I'll have to sneak out when I can. Dammit. On the flip side...she will be earning considerably more $$. Maybe she'll get a scoot and then it'll be easier for me to go.

Of course, this needs to fit in between watching/playing with/ enjoying our son, finding time to go kayaking, fixing up repairs around the house, garden etc...

Dude she's TOTALLY going to do what I think my wife is doing- we have on-site daycare too... and I think my wife is angling for me to have to take the car most days so SHE can start taking the Buddy!!

Man... these women... so crafty... and we men... sooooo dumb!!

we went through this for about 2-3 weeks until we realized this union could be trouble w/o 2 scooters. the manipulation ("you can drive it tomorrow...") and deceit ("I am just taking the trash out..." vrooom) was pretty funny when I look back on it. Plus we love riding together

haha! That IS pretty funny... Yeah, if we didn't have a child, we probably would have already sold the car and become a 2 scooter family by now. We've already talked about how much we'd love to ride together, though due to the aforementioned child, that would not happen too often!

My wife has a busy time at work for the next month or so and she doesn't even have time to get her permit... so I'm safe for now. I think she's just waiting for that powder blue Buddy to come out. Or even worse, a Pamplona (which I would probably take over the Italia- I love it)
