For those that might be considering a motorcycle helmet communication system, I thought I'd make you aware of recent Amazon pricing discounts on the Sena systems. (I haven't checked other sites, so this pricing may be common). Much less than what I paid for the SMH10D's.
Anyway, I've had both the Cardo Scala and Sena systems and definitely prefer the Sena.

Got the older version and absolutely love it. My mom who loves to check up on me while I ride says the sound quality on her end is really good. Same for me when she is talking. I got the open face mic setup because my Vemar has removable chin bar. But the mic fits even with chin bar on

I am not a scooter snob.
I am a scooter connoisseur
I got out and rode with my new SMH5-FM. Call quality to the mothership was great, and I found it easy to switch between phone and FM radio. Voice control to my LG phone worked fine - just tap one button and say "call home". Nobody to test the intercoms with. I paid $125 at Amazon last week.
I don't know why the 10-series doesn't have FM as an option on more of its kits. Looks like only the half helmet rig offers it.
Feel da rhythm! Feel da rhyme! Get on up! It's Buddy Time!
To all of the above.
The truth be told, I'm not much of a "chatty" person when I'm riding. However, my wife and some of our riding friends are much different in that regard. I like the fact that they can contact me for important or emergency matters, but the intercom feature isn't all that important to me.
But I'd purchase and use one of these units just for the Bluetooth cell phone abilities, and being able to easily key up my music and voice instructions of GPS navigations.
This really is a high quality, long range, easy to use unit.
