Anybody Hook up deadlights in a '12 Buddy?

Post by Papa Bear »

I'm trying to hook up a Bob Combo wiring harness to get my dead lights working as running lights and turn signals. The You Tube instructions are great but its on an '06 Buddy. My '12 Psycho looks completely different under the hood. Orange wire to 12V. charger looks good for power but someone said do it before the fuse.

Any suggestions before I dive in?

I installed the Voodoo Combo last month on my new Buddy. The wire you tap into in the video was not easy to get to. I eventually found it, but it was buried behind other wires and took a little fanaglin to get the vampire tap on it.

I should have took some pics.

The last post of this thread viewtopic.php?t=19540&highlight= offers a simple looking alternative to hooking up the deadlight kit....

deadlights in a '12 Psycho

I finally did it. DudeDog is right, the ignition wire shown in the video is very hard to get to. I got some expert help from Nathaniel Salzman, founder of the scooterfile.com forum.

We looked up wiring diagrams and ultimately found things work fine using the power wire to the turn signal relay, which is much easier to get at. He also felt pretty strongly that we should actually strip and solder the wires for a better and more permanent connection (which he did). He has had some bad experience with the type of power tap that came with the VooDoo wiring harness. He has seen them shake loose over time. Just a caution.

All works great. If anyone wants, I'll be happy to post some pix.
