Buddy 50 Engine Type

Post by ironmask »

Could someone enlighten me on the actual engine type of the Buddy 50cc 2T?

I am finding some hints that it could be a 1E40QMB Minarelli JOG type
is that it? I have looked through the manuals and haven't found anything at all that says it actually.

And if someone has an actual link to a good site I can get the parts for this engine type, it would be so greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

when I was looking for engine hop up stuff, it seemed to me that the engine was probably a Minarelli, or a variation of...

I'm 98% sure it's the same as the RoughHouse (for what that's worth).

Not to sound crazy... but you would think someone in the forums would know exactly what it is. LOL.. I mean, there are a lot of members on here from what I've read that not only own one but also sell and repair them.

Just saying! Ancient chinese secret?! :P

Basically. it is a Minarelli horizontal based design.. You have to be careful. Just about ALL Asian 50 cc engines are based on (or cloned from) one of several Italian engine designs. The buddy engine is not an exact clone so some things may work, some may not. If you start with the Minarelli horizontal, you're in the ballpark.

Or Japanese. Probably like the bigger Buddy's: _almost_ a GY6. Similar design, but not compatible with most generic GY6 parts.
