Removing body panels

Post by guzziknight »

I've been searching the forum and online and haven't found anything.

How do I remove the front panel and the top section of the handlebar cowl? I want to fix my bouncing headlight and work on the deadlights.

Thanks!

It's really simple, just look for any screw on the front and then the ones on the driver facing side. There are a couple of clips but they pop right out without too much force. Search for the manual on here and it shows exactly where the screws are located.

yes, the front cover is really easy to remove.

Is there a secret to getting the headlight cowl parts off? I found the screws to be a pain, and the clips to be a bigger pain. I tried just moving it with a screwdriver, and it took more force than I thought necessary.

Look for this in the Technical Library Forum: The Idiot's Pictoral Guide:Changing The Headlight ('07 up) I just upgraded my headlight using these instructions. Great step-by-step with pics! Front cowl included. And yeah the front screws on the handlebar cowl take a LOT of patience to do. Pick a warm day and let the scoot sit in the sun for a while. The plastics flex much more easily which helps when you are popping those pesky tabs.
