So I've searched the forum looking for Buddy owners who have switched some of their panels out. From what I've read, it seems that you can replace all of them for around $200 (but no one has actually given a detailed breakdown of which panel costs what). So I called my closest dealer and asked how much it would be to buy all the panels. They said Genuine quoted them around $400-$600 - and that is without labor (I followed-up with a call to Genuine and they confirmed this) . If people have gotten all of their interior panels for around $60, I'm not sure where the other $500 would come from.
So my question is - is there anyone who has actually switched some of these out? If so, how much did the parts cost and how difficult were they to get from your dealer? I'm not trying to switch them all out - but I'd like to tone down the pink a bit with a number of creme panels.
Maybe that was a quote for all the plastic? If so, I can see the total cost
getting up there because the floor boards, etc. seem more substantial and
costlier. If you look at all the individual plastic pieces that make up the
Buddy exterior/surfaces there are actually quite a few.
But, if one is talking about selected colored panels such as the
rear "fender," front fender, front cover, etc. I can see those costing very
little. For example, my dealer pointed out how the front fender and front
cover were each about $25.

The quotes for the swappable interior panels that most people have reported have been under $100 or so. These are the easiest to swap out for a color variation... Also, IMHO, the colors look better when those are swapped—they're the ones that aren't the exact same color on most Buds anyway.
I guess you were quote a price for all the panels. There are a lot on the exterior and they're made from a better plastic than the interior ones.

I've heard through the grapevine though that body parts are difficult to get from Genuine. I've personally had a top cover on backorder for two months.

Dude, TELL ME ABOUT IT! It took my black seat over four months to arrive. I say start calling scooter shops to see who has what in stock already. I know for a fact that my local shop, Philadelphia Scooters, has a bunch of '06 Buddy panels in stock. Good luck!
They had to replace a bunch of my panels when I wiped out and when they ordered the parts from Genuine, they said it would take at least two weeks so they swiped all the parts I needed from another Buddy they had in the back. My scooter shop is awesome like that!
I'm surprised the front fender cost 40 dollars, when the front huge panel cost 28.99. Those prices are similar to what my dealer has told me, so they are accurate.
This thread is well over a year old, and I do believe some of the prices have gone up as a result of our wacky economy. So yes, please do post your parts list & prices, gluv4u2! I'm considering treating myself to a black interior, as I've been waiting in vain for a trade for two years now.

Well, yeh. I can confirm from personal experience that delays for replacement panels can be several months. Over the life of the Buddy 125/150 there have been so many different colors that it is really impossible for a dealer to stock a full range of all replacement panels. Price of the panels is certainly better than most of the competition including the Yamaha Vino so long as you are willing to wait. Painting panels yourself is not really all that difficult if you remove the panels before painting and use one of the plastic paints such as Fusion or a plastic primer prior to using any auto grade paint. For those that wish to switch to black interior panels, that would seem like the simplest and cheapest solution. I wish Genuine and its dealers would make a point of stocking at least all panels in one "base" color so you could get quick turn around if you needed it or if you wanted panels for repainting. Some riders might sorta like the look of one or two panels appearing "primered". The urban assault vehicle look without bits and pieces falling off.

I don't think the prices are fixed on Buddy parts. I think there is a MSRP but dealerships can add or subtract what they want. Some dealerships might not have latest price list too. And some dealerships will include the shipping costs if they have to order the parts.
So, the list way earlier in this thread is probably a fair guideline to reference.
Has anyone seen a map or schematic of where each of these parts go? I've got the powder blue Buddy and want to start mixing in some of the black panels. For instance, which of these is the back panel that goes around the tail light? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My dealer would have traded the panels from a 125 Buddy to a 50 Buddy on a new scooter for free since I liked one color, but not the other. Then he would replace the panel that had the "125" on it for one with a "50" after ordering it. Turned out, I went with the Roughhouse instead so I didn't do it. So if you find a new one is the wrong color, you might be able to do a switch without any additional cost.

Actually, that part is not even necessary. You can order replacement "50" or "125" logos, or remove an existing one with a hairdryer and place it on another panel if you wish.

Yeah, my local scooter shop did that for someone who bought a 170i in green, but really wanted it in white... so they swapped out all the panels on the shop Buddy, which happened to be a Lemonhead... *facepalm* But hey, they got a white Buddy 170, and our shop now has a forest green "Lemonhead"...
