Seafoam Buddy stolen in Austin area (Round Rock)
2012 Seafoam Green Buddy 125
Stolen sometime between Thursday (Dec 5) evening & Saturday morning (Dec 7) from an apartment parking lot in Round Rock.
About 8200 miles. Had dark green tree decals on front, sides & back. A small modern buddy sticker on one side, a Firefly engine decal on the engine & a blue & yellow HRC equals decal on the fender. Has a windscreen & rear rack (with wire basket mounted using orange & green gear ties & a black cargo net over it). The license plate is in an "Urban Moto" bracket.
Inside the "cupholder" part of the bin is a strip of velcro w/ an elastic band, used for securing drinks. There is a cheap drink holder strapped inside the wire basket as well.
Inside the pet carrier is a Zena lock/cable & a motorcycle club (great place for them, I know) as well as a rock climbing bag full of random gear (tire guage, green cargo net, some other gear ties, some canvas shopping bags, the manufacturer tool kit, headlamp, etc) & some rain pants. There is a clear plastic UPS mailing packet stuck to the inside of the pet carrier; in this is my insurance card.
If you see anyone riding this or trying to sell it or trying to fix it (if they broke the column lock), please notify me immediately so I can murder them.

Now don't get to riled up and do something regrettable. Just run 'em over a few times, wont kill 'em but it will HURTinfinitedrifter wrote:....please notify me immediately so I can murder them.

Does anyone know if they'd be able to get it driveable w/o the keys? Or undo the column lock?
It seems like there's been quite a few similar thefts in the area, so I'm guessing they are breaking them down & selling the parts. Does anyone know where they might sell the parts besides the obvious (CL or ebay) either online or locally?
Thanks for the support. It's weird, losing a Buddy feels more personal than having a car broken into or stolen.

My condolences
I've had my car stolen so I know the feeling. Sucks- hope they find him soon and put the perpetrator on the rack in the public square.

It's about right actually.infinitedrifter wrote:My insurance company is saying the value is $2263.19 (which includes the accessories I've added). After the $500 deductible, I'll be getting like half what I paid (bought in Mar 2012). I guess that just seems low to me.
A new one is $2,799, before freight and pdi and taxes which are not taken under consideration when evaluating the scooter.
$2,263.19 is about right for a scooter with these miles.
It's what we would sell a used one for or just under.

Wow, Anton, that's a bummer but pretty much what I figured. I've been watching for someone to part it out more than someone selling it whole; it just seemed like selling a scoot w a broken column lock, no key & no title would be difficult. But, if someone is out there joyriding it around, I don't know, maybe they'll be easier to catch.
I believe it is someone who had regular access to my apartment complex. A neighbor overheard the kids who work for the Waste service talking about stealing a car and just this week a bench was taken from another neighbor's patio. I don't know if any of this is connected, but I'm following any lead I can get.
