[NBR] Not out of the woods yet...
We're getting a week of Spring-like weather to make up for 3 weeks of ice and record low temps.
I plan on enjoying it if possible!
Everyone else counting down the days?

I've been looking at my Fuelly logs from previous years. Last year I didn't buy gas between Christmas and the last week of March, so it was kind of a late-starting/late-ending winter. But the previous year I filled up three times in December, and had a fill-up in January and three fill-ups in February before resuming the typical once-a-week pattern. 2011 and 2010 had just one fill-up in February then a few in March. So... yeah, I'm kinda counting the days until March, figuring that I'll at least be able to get the bike on the road once in a while.

Colorado really needs the snow, 'cause Arizona needs the water!skully93 wrote:We're getting a week of Spring-like weather to make up for 3 weeks of ice and record low temps.

Totally going nuts. My street is still an ice floe.skully93 wrote:We're getting a week of Spring-like weather to make up for 3 weeks of ice and record low temps.

Not sure if I'm ready to risk cornering with all the mag chloride residue on the tarmac.

Well, I blow down Bannock on the way to work, at least your path is clear once you get down here!Tocsik wrote:Totally going nuts. My street is still an ice floe.

Hopefully a week of warm weather will clear it up a bit!

We here in NGA are getting hit pretty hard in this latest storm. Have about an inch of snow on the ground now, some freezing rain (a bad thing as a lot of
power lines and trees coming down already). Expecting apx. 7" snow/ice/sleet by tomorrow morning. For you all who are in the north this does not sound like much but to us here in the south it is a really big deal,
if power lines go down we are in deep doo doo.
Bought a scooter, should have bought a sled.

They backed off of our forecast, originally Richmond was supposed to get as much as 15" and west of here as much as 20"... now, we are getting 6-8" and an uncertain amount icy rain to smooth it all over. That's still a lot for here.
A lot. And the ice could potential shut off power many places, esp if it stays windy. -_-
Is it spring yet??

Not out of the Woods
During the last blast of our polar blast my furnance went out- had to have a new motor put in. I had been using electric heaters but it got cold enough to freeze up my sewer drains which meant a call to the plumbers on top of the furnance repairs. My scooter is somewhere in my yard - one of the many mounds of snow! Warmer weather can't come soon enough. For you folks on the east coast- be careful. That ice is worse than any amount of snow.

I've had enough of winter. Usually I love it, but this ones been rough.
I work for a municipality and we do snow plowing and we've gotten hammered this year.
Great for the pocket, not so great on the soul with all the long nights and lack of weekends
But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Getting all my parts ordered for my scoot and my motorcycle.
Looking forward to getting some me time behind the bars

Tazio, I don't think that we will go for the Winter Olympics. Word on the street is that we plan to hold an World Series Demolition Derby in the winter
of 2015. We will use our Atlanta Suicide Circle AKA expressway assuming that we are blest with the right weather again. Us Red Necks love stock car
racing and Demolition Derby. It would be a natural for us.

I actually used the scooter for a real errand today! I rode the 5 miles to the gym (and back). The temp was just over 20F, but it was sunny, so most of the H2O on the major roads was liquid. (Small roads are still mostly covered by snow and ice.) Craterous potholes and debris therefrom were the bigger hazards, but I was better off on the scooter than the car, because I only needed to find one track through them, and could weave around them. We're back into single digits over the next several days, but March is almost upon us....

I'd pay hard currency for that weather right now.skully93 wrote:So, today, while I'm at work, it is finally 58 degrees, no wind (we've had nothing but murderous wind for months!) and clear skies.
Tomorrow when I'm off....38 degrees and snow. !W$#@$~
then all week...high 50's..yay! Wait...weekend...30's and snow...
AAARGH!
