low profile buddy seat

Post by silverstreak »

Hi to all men and woman scooter riders out there. I have a question, I am thinking on getting a low profile seat for my 170i and was wondering if any of you may have got one and how do you like it? I am 5'8 and I can't sit flat footed at a stop and wonder if the low profile seat would help? Any feedback would be appreciated ! Thanks and ride safe.

I added one to my Psycho and couldn't be happier. My inseam is 29 and I can sit comfortably now on the scooter while balancing it on the balls of my feet at a stop.

Very comfortable on longer rides too. No numb butt here.

Only "downside" is a tad less room in the pet carrier for stowing a helmet as the concave under seat space is lessened.

For me the advantage outweighs that space.

I just put a low profile seat on a friend's Blur, it made all the difference between her having a very expensive tool rack in her shed and a scoot she can enjoy....

28" inseam and can now comfortably reach the ground. I can now even take the scooter off the center stand while sitting on it. This is something I could not do prior to the low pro seat.

I had some initial concerns about comfort, but after a couple hundred miles of riding it started to break in nicely.

I put one on my wifes Buddy so she could flat foot a bit better. You only loose a bit of storage space. Worth the money and so far its held up fine, no seams splitting or worn spots. Also, very comfortable. She got hers for free, she traded her stock seat for it!

Didn't one Buddy model come with a lowered seat? Or am I dreaming?

The Blackjack came with a single 'sculpted' seat, but it wasn't low-profile.

I loved my low profile seat. As a short beginner (I'm 5'1"), it really helped me flatfoot my bike and gain confidence as a rider. I think I used it for 3 to 4 months before I changed back to the regular seat.

I opted to change back to the regular seat because at that point, I could handle my bike much better and it was a more comfortable seat. To be clear, I'm not saying the low profile seat is uncomfortable - just that the regular seat is more comfortable :-)

Happy trails!

With the regular seat I felt like I was sitting "on" the scooter.

With the low profile seat I feel like I am sitting "in" the scooter.

I like the second feeling best!

Thank all of you for the replies! I have seen them for sell and am now thinking on getting one, I would feel a little more comfortable with my feet sitting more flat at stops.and as long as they are comfortable I think I will give one a try.it will also help when my shorter daughter wants to ride my scoot lol . Thanks again and happy and safe scooting to all !!.

I'm pretty sure the Psycho came with a low pro seat. It makes a big difference in the ride and is very comfortable. It's super cool looking too :o

I just had my Buddy delivered two days ago and this is my first post/reply. The low profile seat is a big bonus and makes a difference. I am 5'6" on a good day and can flat foot with this seat. However, as someone else posted, I think the original seat is more comfortable. I like to ride a little further back and the shape of the low profile makes this harder. For now I will use the original seat.

The Psycho does come with a low profile seat, and it does make it feel like you're sitting "in" the scooter rather than "on" it as you do with the standard seat. However, I am not particularly fond of this feeling. I prefer the riding position of the standard seat. The low profile seat is just too low, and you also lose storage in the pet carrier with the low profile seat. In my case it makes the difference between being able to fit my full face Shoei under the seat vs. not being able to fit it.

Taking other options into consideration, my personal preference is for the Blackjack solo seat. It's by far the most comfortable of the three without costing any loss of storage.

That said, I think the low profile (Psycho) seat is easily the coolest looking of the three. The Blackjack seat is the next best looking, with the standard seat coming in a distant third.

Ironically enough, I've installed the standard seat on my Blackjack. It's nice to be able to comfortably carry a passenger, and the standard seat seems to do this easiest and best.

Yes, I do sometimes wish I had room for my helmet. Would you say that the BJ seat is as low as the low profile?

If anything the BJ seat is taller even than the standard seat, but it is oh-so-comfortable and very nice for getting into a deep tuck.

Not sure where one would get a "low profile" seat? How many inches difference are we talking? I don't need it but I'm curious.

I've never taken a measurement, but compared to the the Blackjack seat it is substantial.

I put a WTB on here and got my low profile seat. Though the Psycho came with one, the original owner replaced it with the regular Buddy seat.

I've seen them cheapo on Ebay too!
