What's a cowl, and why do I want to protect it?

Post by snoozy »

I was looking at the customizing doohickies for Buddies, and there is something called a cowl protector. I see that the cowl seems to be the front-facing portion under the seat. Why does it need protection? Protection from what exactly?

I'm no expert but I think the ''cowl'' is the side panel piece.

As for protecting, notice how the bars run along the side of them?

Should your scoot fall or be hit there the bars protect there.

Plus there are passenger foot pegs attached to them.

Oops! Well, that makes more sense! I never knew that the side ide panels were called cowls. Thanks!

^HA!

Anyway, the crash bars have saved me a lot of plastic replacement between a lowside and wind knocking over my scoots a few times.

Sometimes you find them used, like I did, and they are a great bargain!
