If its the black NCY exhaust with the plastic shield then nothing more than installing it should do. I had one, but Im at seal level, so no jetting change is required. No real noticable performance-but sounded much better than stock! Very easy to install.

Mine was kinda loud, and the supplied "sound baffle" did little noise reduction. I just left the baffle out. I would just check the plug color and make sure it looks ok. Mocha coffee color (light brown) is good. White means lean. Black(ish) means rich. Its not as restrictive as the stock muffler but its also not a true performance exhaust either. I bought it as a cheap replacement for a rusted out/broken baffle stock muffler.

Loud

Post by Mikestib1 »

So it's loud enough you don't hear the roller weights banging around in the variator? That clacking noise is obnoxious compared to a deeper exhaust note IMO. I can always baby the throttle when I run by the neighbors who are so glued to their cellphones or loud car stereos they won't notice it in their SUVs

Installation is pretty easy. You may need to bend the muffler bracket slightly or add a washer to a bracket bolt to get it lined up well.
-There is a crush ring between the pipe and cylinder head. Take your time when bolting to the cylinder head so that crush ring stays in place. Thats about it.
-Check the spark plug as explained above (after you have ridden a few miles). An engine running that is running too lean will not last as long.

NCY exhaust

Post by Mikestib1 »

Surprised it's so heavy. Wished I'd bought the Prima. Seriously it's a boat anchor. Might have just got a long drill bit and reared out the stocker. Live and learn. At least it was $129 from MXP on line.
It weighs the same as 2 gallons of gas, 15 pounds. Guess it is hard to build a performance exhaust in steel rather than aluminum. But it sounds loud and cheaper than buying a Hsrley!
