Lance Vintage 150cc?

gary and golfingguy, when you bought ya'lls scoots on the net did they have any kind of damage/had the owner said the scoot had been involved in even minor accidents? or did they say they were perfect and you trusted them and it turned out fine? im not a very trusting person, myself...

The guy we bought from listed it as like new and it was, not a scratch on it. He kept it in the garage the entire time he had it. Poor guy really hated to see it go. We had it in the shop for a little finesse work on the idle and stuff, but I understand that's typical of new Stellas within the first hundred or so miles.

Earlier on in this thread, I had mentioned that the guys at the Scooter Revolution shop might not have been the best.

I was wrong. I heard a rumor (from the competing shop in town, and went to debunk it today. I found out that one dissatisfied customer has a very big mouth. So for all of you Austinites or others in TX, do not think of them in a negative light.

I went and spoke with Grady the owner; he is one cool cat. He actually let me ride a couple of the scooters they had in the shop. One of them was their shop toy, a souped-up 180cc that growled like a Harley. The acceleration on that thing was amazing:D

The other was the Lance Vintage 150. I was not impressed. The handlebars are at an angle so that it is hard to find a comfortable position to throttle. Also you feel really low to the ground when you sit on it, not as visible as the Buddy. Also, not as much "oomph" as the Buddy when it came to throttling. Granted this scooter only had 12 miles on it but I was expecting more.

Hold out for a buddy!!

thanks for the review, maribell, i sure am holding out! especially now that i found out i'm graduating in may (woot, woot!) the scoot is going to be my present to myself, student loans be damned, i've earned something cool!

how's that shop in terms of gear/accessories? they don't sell buddys, do they? any other scoots i should check out?

...well, somebody got a nice (although high mileage) Buddy 125 off of Craig's List when they bought my Red Baron a couple months ago. No crash damage, wiring replaced, new tire....

i just got a buddy 125cc and i honestly think it's a one of a kind. what bought me was the 2yr unlimited miles warranty. Since my boyfriend goes to UT in austin... i plan on riding to austin from san antonio every weekend! GET A BUDDY! they are like minicooper scooters! lol

I once saw a guy riding a 80cc Honda scoot from Austin to College Station. I ran into him at a party in Austin a couple days later (dude was 6 6" with a giant blonde 'fro; couldn't miss him). He laughed and said he was smoking joints the whole way there and back to help pass the time. I believed him.

Maribell, sorry I missed your post. My craigslist scoot was obviously not in any accidents - no scratches or dings, and it was clear nothing had been replaced. You take your chances, but if you look closely I would venture that between that and grilling the owner you can establish more or less whether your are being dealt with honestly.

Hilarious:
Had a guy pull up to me on a Lance Vintage today. He'd had it for two days and was loving it... He had some admiring words for my Vespa (wife was riding pillion).

Five minutes later, I pull into a parking garage and wind up parked right next to the Roketa version of the exact same scoot, only this one's held togetehr with tape. (The Roketa, like the Baron version of this scoot, has that horrid eagle fender crest.)

There's a reason they're called clones.
