Kick starting buddy
I cant get my buddy the kick start, I really wanna learn to do it, but I just cant get it to start. Sometimes when I kick it I can hear a deep sound coming from the engine like it wants to start, but fails after rotating once or twice.
What is the process of starting the bike from kicking it? I dont know if I am hurting the bike by kicking it too much, when I try using electric start after wards, it takes a while for it to catch itself and start, maybe because of all the kicking?

You do not need to hold rear brake when kick starting ... make sure the key is on and the kill switch is not on ... (I've done that before .... I "usualy" never use the kill switch .... I kicked and kicked it .... tried the electric start .... said some bad words ... then figured out it was the kill switch) .... I just push kick start down a little to get the play out of it then give it a quick kick
try doing a subject search .... this has come up before ..... one had a pretty good video .... this person must have tried about 50 times before they got it ....
good luck

Why are people kick starting their buddies so much? I never have and haven't ever had to. When I'm not going to ride for a bit, I but it on the battery tender, and it's always started right up. I got told to do this by my friends with m/c - they say with small batteries, use the trickle charger and avoid kick starting.

Shoot, I don't have a charger and my 'lectric starter works every time... even if I go a week without starting. My kick start is finicky tho, it will only do it sometimes, & sometimes it won't even go down when I'm putting all my weight on it. I know how to do it I think, it just doesn't always work... (if that makes any sense).
