deter jerks with loud sounds
Get a screaming disk lock. I have one that emits a 110 decibel alarm for 13 seconds if its even budged a little. Having to park in the Boston Commons, this certainly has deterred some potential thiefs/jerks.
Once when I was having lunch across the street, and this one bro-dude spotted my old scooter and wanted to sit on it; let's just say he hurried fast away as if he had spotted a six pack of miller light.
Serves him right for violating my ride; I didn't sit on his car's hood to "get a feel for it".

facial hair
1. My 'stache is a real tattoo and no it didn't hurt actually. It has faded, though. Great party trick.
2. Be careful about what screaming disc lock you get. Some are made specifically for motorcycles, and some only fit certain scooters. I just found out from a scooter shop in SF that the new Xena ones don't fit the Genuine Buddys, although they do work on the Blur. Check with your dealer to make sure it'll fit the front wheel, because nothing would suck more than laying out fifty bucks for the alarm and finding out it won't clamp onto the disk. My old Xena lock fit my former scooter, but as I don't have a Buddy (yet...one more month to go), I can't tell if the old Xena model will work on the new bike. Either way, it'll be fun to activate and leave it outside my unsuspecting, noisy neighbor's door!

Thanks for the info. Aerostich in Duluth sells them in Minnesota and they also have a catalog sales too. As my Son lives in Duluth, I have been planning on doing the 155 mile ride there this summer. Which model did you get?

We just got our Buddy on Saturday. I have not yet checked but the Xena website has a print out of the lock fitter.

Just print it out & do a check. I plan on doing this tonight & will post up what I found out.

OK new & exciting news. Just got off of the phone with Xena & they said that the XZZ or XZN6 should work. Do not go out & buy them tonight, wait a bit. We might be able to do a bulk buy.
I am going to take some dimensions & some photos of my 2006 disk break and email them to Xena. I will let you know what we can get.

OK, everybody go home tonight & check your front disk break dimensions.
Disk thickness:...........................1/8"
Long & short vent opening:.......5/16"
Long vent to disk edge:.............1/4"
Short vent to disk edge:............3/8"
These are my dimensions on a stock disk break of a 2006 Buddy.

I have ordered one to be the guinea-pig. It should be here on Mon/Tues of next week. I will be trying it in both vented openings, just to be sure. I will take some photos and a video of how to put on, take off & to set off the alarm; to send to Xena. I will post them here also if it works properly. He said if it does not work that he will give me a full refund & we will try something else. I will be getting the XZN6.

If you have any questions please post them up & I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. So sit back, relax, & laugh at me when I fail miserably.

Of course you are right. I'll get in touch with our local dealer and see what they say about these measurements.kilted texan wrote:Don't do it. You know what assuming does...She-Buddy wrote:I assume the dimensions for the disk lock are consistent across the 06, 07, & 08 models.
Thanks for the details!

I don't own a Buddy yet (don't torment me!)kilted texan wrote:I just got out the tape measure & check it.
I submitted those measurements to one of the dealerships I've been calling. They told me the same lock should work on the 06, 07, & 08. According to him, Genuine didn't change any of these dimensions.
