Washing my scooter...im an idiot

Post by CO BlackCatRider »

All- I just got my scooter and I decided to wash it because it had rain spots all over it and it just needed to be clean...now the only way it will start is using the kick start?? Am I an idiot or something or what?? It has been about two hours and it still won't start with the electric starter... do you guys/girls think it will be okay by morning??

what is the best way to wash the scooter?

Hold the rear brake when pushing the ignition, kick starting is simple once you do it all the time, but water shouldnt keep you from turning it on, I think this is a human error, not mechanical.

I have had no issues washing it the old fashioned way, at a car wash...

Ahh good. So you just weren't holding a brake? A brake has to be held for the electric ignition to work, but not the kickstart. Glad that's all it was. I was afraid you had maybe left the ignition on while washing it and had drained your battery some.

I usually take some paper towels, 2-3 do the trick for me.

Just enough to the point where the towel is wet, but doesnt leave water behind. I just do a quick rub on all the plastic parts, then another towel for the floor mat, then the third for the muffler and engine area.

Woo-hoo! Fireball Stella!

I think a garden hose is better than a car wash sprayer, just because there's less pressure. If you use a DIY car wash, be careful not to get water in the ignition (very easy to do) and when spraying under your scoot.
