Don't put valuables in that Front thingy
often I put my cell phone in the front of the Buddy-you know in the open "glove box" (If I am able I will edit this thread to reflect proper name if given to me). I don't talk while I am riding of course, but I use it for a clock. Anyway today it obviously flew out somehow. I last saw it about 5 minutes before my final destination when I checked the time at a stop sign. While I normally travel very pot -holed roads, this route was smooth as glass so it could not have bounced out-it must have blown out or slid out in a lean. So, lesson learned. My little bottle of $1 hand sanitizer was safe and sound. I have done this on and off for a long time...but never again-I guess it is the cost of doing business.

Especially since you can't put your phone under the seat!!Eazy wrote:My glove box works awesome for everything.
But it's an actual box.
Which I think makes the difference.

Peabody99/maribell- check out the glovebox organizer thread. This thing has a little pocket for your cell that won't save it from a big bump but ought to keep it from randomly flying or sliding out!!

ummm. . .Well a couple of weeks ago we were in one of our scooter shops here, and I was touching one of those 2008 "metal" Genuine scooters when I stopped and said, "I thought these were suppose to be metal. . ." (although the clackety-clack of my fingernails were definitely not clackety-clacking on METAL). One of the salespersons was circling like a vulture and jumped in and said oh, yes the Stellas were all metal. I looked at him and cocked my head and informed him that the part I was touching was definitely not metal. The owner happened to be nearby and overheard the exchange and jumped in to concur that the place on the body I was touching was, indeed, plastic. Hmmm. So the non-Tupperware is mostly metal. . .
For me plastic is plastic, I love my Buddy, and I will take my GIGANTIC underseat storage over an eensy box any ol' day.
Which, by the way, is exactly where my phone rides. I take it in case of emergency only, and I don't want it in a pocket to get mooshed in case of any mishaps that might end with me and Buddina laying on the pavement.

You found the horn cast obviously.runtotorun121 wrote:ummm. . .Well a couple of weeks ago we were in one of our scooter shops here, and I was touching one of those 2008 "metal" Genuine scooters when I stopped and said, "I thought these were suppose to be metal. . ." The only plastic body part on the bike.
Very keen of you.
(btw the tupperware thing is a joke. I own an elite, which is plastic, as was my metro, and vinos.)

I have something cheaper in mind.Eazy wrote:Probably not.lex wrote:I always keep my phone in there. Haven't had an issue with it yet. My iPhone isn't safe?
Better give it to me and get something cheaper.
If, for whatever reason, you need your phone or whatever in your glove bucket, a cheap case/bag and some velcro could go a long way towards keeping everything contained and in place.

Yep. I'll be getting the new one next month. The velcro may be a great idea. Thanks.ericalm wrote:I have something cheaper in mind.Eazy wrote:Probably not.lex wrote:I always keep my phone in there. Haven't had an issue with it yet. My iPhone isn't safe?

Is that the housing that goes up over the top of the headlamp and onto the handlbars? That is the part we were discussing in the scooter shop. At first I thought maybe the paint was making it sound distinctly plastic-like, but when the owner agreed that that section of the Stella was plastic I tapped the front of the body and heard the distinctive "ting" of the metal parts.Eazy wrote:

I read a past post about your tupperware thing, so I was just intending to add along to the good-natured playfulness in this post since I knew you were having fun with it.

Just like jmazza, my husband is intent on a Stella to add to our pack, but I am pushing for another Buddy.

I've kept my cell, my GPS and my digital camera in the front thingy for the entire 199 miles I've traveled on Velveeta.
Guess I'll do something about their safety now that I've heard about the massive atmospheric vacuum effect that snatches them from the front.
Perhaps it's because my GPS is a large, long, handheld unit.
And that my phone is one of those Hawaii 5-0 bag phones.
And that my digital camera fits way up on the left side where the compartment is deep.
I got some of that DualLock tape for removing my plate when I might need to park on a sidewalk. Perhaps I'll put DualLock on all my gadgets.
Or better yet, I could put a shower cap over the compartment.
Or install some tethers with clips inside the bin.
Maybe the better idea is to put the phone in the jacket, leave the GPS there and get a tether to clip the phone in the bin.
Now I'm worried.... http://www.thingstoworryabout.com

When I first looked at scoots, I was very interested on the Buddy. Once I looked at it in person, the first mod that came to mind was to put a top on the open glove box.
Nothing fancy, just some velcro around the opening and a cut-to-fit waterproof fabric with velcro underneath and voila, closed glove box. I was also going to cut a hole on it to fit a coffee cup.
Then I got a Blur, so I never got around to doing it.
Just a thought.

I've found that the front "holder" is pretty crappy at holding anything. If I put a standard sized drink in the left side, it slides down into the holder, turns sideways and spills out--the top being conveniently popped off by the edge of the holder.
I solved this problem by putting an old hand-vacuum filter in the bottom. It fits perfectly and stands up high enough to keep the bottom of the cup from slipping deeper into the holder and spilling the drink.
We really need someone to make "attachments" that can be placed in the holder to make it more functional! There's a market out there for some enterprising individual who is not me!

Only if I'm eating out and take a refill with me! I hate "no-spill" cups for no good reason other than aesthetics! You carry regular cup type cups around? I assumed those of you carrying drinks had those non spill cups. You must have some nice roads around you, because there's no way a regular fast food type cup would last 60 seconds on Cleveland city streets. lol

Trust me, Tulsa's roads are WORLD-CLASS BAD! I think the National Guard regularly uses them for mortar practice....

Those holders are pretty cooooool!
