o8 buddy 125 stalls

Post by scootersRhogs2 »

i just bought a buddy 125 from urban moto in austin. the man things lasted four days and now it stalls/wont start. the shop said to take off the gas cap and then styart it(to let out the vapors) but as soon as i put the cap back on it only made it about a block. i hope thats all it is. they said theyd maybe drill a hole in the gas cap??? youd think genuine would have this figured out before they released them.

I share your malcontent, scootersRhogs2. After riding my Bud ~21 miles, my speedometer fell to zero/stopped working as did the odometer. Not as big a deal as your situation, but it's tough to break-in your scoot when you don't know how fast you are going. Your buddy comes with 2 yr parts/labor warranty. I'd put it to use as I did. Good luck.

i had my 08 125 stall a couple of times in its first week. I also noticed that while idling the lights would dim and the engine sounds weren't constant.
there was also a slight leak coming from the right side.
I called my dealer and they are coming up from RI (about a 2 hour ride) to take a look at it, and possibly bring it back to their shop.

Hopefully this is figured out pretty soon--ive read about the vapor lock situation but my problem didn't fit all of the characteristics.

Ill let you know what they do/say
They should be here monday.

Oh yes, that little problem. My dealer solved it by Loctiting the speedometer cable where it plugged into the underside of the instrument cluster. An easy problem to fix, but frustrating when it happens.

I'm fortunate in that the stall-outs on my Metro 124 only happen on high speed runs. Well, not so "fortunate" when I'm on a divided highway with a minimal shoulder! But the day to day commuting at urban speeds remains unaffected. I am considering having that emissions canister/hose yoinked sometime this fall, though. Don't want to do it too early and void the warranty.
