2007 Genuine

Post by Corsair »

Does anyone have word on new things to come from Genuine in '07? New accessories, scooters, color choices, etc?

Word is that the new Buddy color will be avocado green. No word on if a current color will be discontinued.

It's rumored that the '07 Blur will be a 200cc, possibly a different, 4-valve engine. There's a 250cc in Europe... which is kinda scary. And someone posted on the Blur forum that there will be a slight color change, too, with the addition of some black panels (unconfirmed, though).

For accessories, they announced new ones for Blur. Still waiting on performance upgrades and new color matched top cases for the Buddy.

Anything else? Anyone?

I asked Genuine about any Special Edition Buddy plans and his response alluded to the fact that they are working on one for 2007.

He also indicated (back in July unfortunately) that they were developing mirrors with longer arms and possible larger mirror area as an option for the Buddy. For me this can't happen soon enough. Unlike others, I am not angry about this. If I felt that it was a deal breaker I would not have bought my Buddy. I just wish Genuine could respond to this need in a more urgent manner.

I would like to see more fun colors. I really my orange Buddy because it seems that other motorists notice the bright color more.

I send Genuine my color suggestions over a month ago. I don't expect to know much prior to February or March of '07.

From a purely intellectual point of view, I am interested in what Genuine has planned, but I am not in any position to buy anything. I have only had my Buddy since the end of September, and overall I am very happy with it.

I would probably have preferred a different color (green or electric blue) if it was offered, but I got the orange one for visibility and it's growing on me.

If offered by Genuine, I will upgrade my mirrors but I don't expect or demand anything from Genuine in that regard other than making them available.

What does have me thinking is the 250 version of the Blur that PGO is selling in the UK. I could see trying to talk my wife into that:
"Honey, you take the Buddy, and I'll just settle for this 250cc Blur here".

But really, I am happy with my 2006 Sunset Orange Buddy. No regrets here.

I'm not sure it's wise to slap a 250 into a scoot the size and weight of the Blur. Honestly, it'd scare the piss out of me.

I think it would be cool to increase the cc’s on the Buddy 125 to 150, or even 200cc, new pistons and head, possible new barrel but keeping the lower end

I think the 200 might be OK too. :D

Of course the 200/250 would start getting into the price range of some other scooters that shall not be named here on Modern Buddy. It was really price/performance and quality that sold me on the Buddy. I wasn't in a position to spend much more than that anyway.

I'd like to ride one and see if it scared me, just for fun.

Great! Now maybe I can talk my 83 year old mom into buying a Buddy since they'll have one that matches her appliances.

LOL!

Anyone, know when a new catalog is coming? Any news on a Buddy section over @ scooterworks.com or scooterwest?

The new color is Series Italia Green and will be $150 more then the base colors.

Also shows the rattler is going to be a 110cc engine instead of the orginal 49cc.

"Series Italia Green" doesn't sound quite like the avocado we'd heard about earlier... but who knows? I wonder if it'll have any other extras such as those on the various special edition Stellas.

Can't wait to see some pics. Genuine needs to keep their site more up to date. It still says the Buddy comes in 3 colors on their main scooter page.

PGO already did it. It was on their UK website, as was a PDF of an article by Twist and Go magazine of it. Seemed pretty well liked.

If anyone finds out any new info please keep me up to date. By the way, when will the '07 Buddy be released? (Will there be any technical changes for the new model?)
