Interesting.
Yeah, here in Missouri you need a valid driver's license to operate a "motorized bicycle" which is th 50cc and under classification. However, it does help them around the SR-22 insurance I suppose...

its a well known fact that the "waves" motorcyclist give each other break down into the following %'s. Of course they may vary depending on where your at in the country. % is the chance you will receive a wave from the opossing motorist.....either way, wether you or they wave first.

Scooter to scooter-23% (scooterist are just to busy to wave and often to inexperienced to take a hand off the bars)

Scooter to Harley- 74% (the more rugged the biker, the better % you'll get a wave)

Scooter to crotch rocket- 08% (mostly crotch rocket riders are just jerks)

Scooter to anyother type of cruising cycle- 88% (these are typically guys who do not fit into any catagory and will take whatever wave they can get)

I give the two finger down wave to everything on two wheels. I even gave a three fingers down wave to a 4 year old on a tricycle the other day.

(I tried. Honest I tried, hard, not to type this, but I just can't stop myself.) And of course I have a special one finger up salute I give to lots of car drivers.

It took me a while to understand what the upside down symbol meant. I thought they were pointing out to me that a road hazard existed ahead, and to use caution. THats what they often do in group cycling rides. The leader will point down and shouts out "Hole!" or maybe "Road kill!" and then it travels down the line to the second to last. But then again, when your in the rear the view never changes anyway; so really the first call out is redundant.
