Front Rack

Post by EAG19 »

I've seen some of you with the front rack installed on your buddies. Is it mostly an aesthetic thing? I imagine it has a use if you tie something to it but is it mostly for looks?

No, mine is functional.

It's kinda of squirrelly though. It does NOT lock down in place like most racks.

It's spring loaded and that keeps it in the up position, all the time. When
you put something on it, the weight and bulk will keep it in the open
position.

I can put a large backpack on it and fasten it down with those bungee
cord nets. Will hold in place just fine.

It's useful. I borrowed someone's suggestion and use double sided velcro to keep the rack open when I use it. I just keep the velcro in the storage area under the seat, along with a bungee net. It does look nice when it isn't in use though. :)

It is useful but I'd recommend the basket for the look you are going for mentioned in your other post. FWIW I think the wicker would look uber cool w/ the cream.

I have a black basket on my orange Buddy.

We use the front rack on group rides. Inevitably someone will run out of gas and we carry a small plastic gas can (empty) in case we need to run for gas.
