I agree. The fuel savings makes a huge difference. Like you, I've hardly put gas in my cage for the last few months. About all I've used the cage for is bringing bulk items home from Costco and senior commodity delivery for the food bank. And don't forget the added bonus in addition to fuel savings - Scooters are just plain a whole lot more fun to get around on!

I think I average about a hundred a month at the high end, about 50 at the low end in stuff for my scooter. About half of that is routine maintenance stuff: tires, oil, oil filters. This month was replacement parts to get rid of the more visible scars from my only wreck. Last month was a windshield, before that a different seat. Next month is going to be a new belt and new slider weights.
The good news is that even with the extra spending, I'm spending less on my scooter than I spent on just gas for my car.

I figured that with my car I was spending $30 every other day in gas, thats $5400 in gas a year(Eek!). Now I spend about $40 a month. Thats $480. That leaves me $4920 in money to buy gear and accessories before the Buddy stops being a cost savings
I hear ya though, it seems like I'm ALWAYS buying something that gets me deaper into my scooter lifestyle. New gear... New parts.... Its worth it in a heart beat.

Let's see, in the past 30 days:
$75 on a windscreen, $35 on spray paint, $50 on a sheepskin seat cover, $210 on Corazzo jacket, $10 attachable water wiper for finger (set of 3), $45 winter gloves, $30 balaclava, $45 knee/shin guards, other stuff.
shopping for new winter tires up to $100
probably a top case about $180

I have to keep reminding myself I'm only paying about $25/month for gas vs about $130 with my car.
To be fair, some of my cost is due to the adding the cylinder kit. Maintenance:
October - $275 - I'm still reeling from this, I had the tires already! This was for install, oil, gear oil, belt and air & oil filter. GAH!
August - $150 - tune up
July - $150 tune up
June - $183 - first set of replacement tires
May - $387 (cylinder kit install)
April - $150 tune up
So yeah, $1300ish in 7months. That's more maintenance than I put in my car in years.
If I hadn't put in the cylinder kit, I think it would have been closer to a wash in gas savings since I ride the bejeezus out this little scoot!

I'm very curious about that as well. If riding were that expensive, there's no way in hell I'd consider it. Maybe I'm just being very neglectful? (I'm not)
