LA Area: 3/13: Ride to St. Francis Dam Site

Three minutes before midnight on March 12, 1928, in what was one of the worst civil engineering failures in American history, the St. Francis Dam catastrophically failed, taking with it more than 600 lives. Our LA Scooter Meetup Group has put together a ride for those interested in visiting the site and surrounding countryside, and paying respects to the fallen on the anniversary of its collapse.

Tragic history aside, getting there is a beautiful, twisty, and remote ride, and will make for a spectacular day.

We meet at NoHo Scooters then ride north via Little Tujunga and into canyon country. We'll visit the power station, ride up to the northern end of the dam site, and walk down the old San Francisquito Road to get a close up look at what remains.

Lunch is at The Rock Inn, a popular destination for 2-wheel riders much akin to the Rock Store. This is worth the trip all by itself...
