Saddlebag question
Hey folks -- the Willie and Max saddlebags I bought on impulse on eBay turned out to be a bad deal, and I'm probably going to sell them on Craigslist. Before I bid on these Motobecane Moped saddlebags, do they look like a good deal? Will they fit on my Buddy? (They come in this awesome orange that should look amazing on my scoot.)

These are cool but likely won't fit on a Buddy without modification. They're built to fit over a rear luggage rack—not span the width of the body under the seat. The Buddy's rear rack is too shallow to support them (and they'd hang off the back kinda funny).
However, you may be able to sew some extended straps for them (adding velcro, maybe?) to make them work.
I lost a bid on some white ones just like these not long ago...

yes, they are very cool and worth figuring a way to rig them.
the bags i rigged together were made for ATVs and just happen to fit together nicely.
They have 3/4" nylon strapping like on dog collors and leshes. it also has the little plastic adjusting thingys like on some helmets and packs. very sturdy stuff.
the 3 straps fit under the seat, one can fit around the gas cap so not to slip forward. plus you can still access the gas and trunk without moving them. Mine are cloth and stow away easily.

Yup. The ones I had bid on like these were Japanese, from the '60s.louie wrote:You know Cowgirl you might have a unique item there. i can't find them anywhere on google but that one spot.
The model of moped this is for is somewhat desirable/collectible (for mopedders) so this may be a hot item! And I'm sure if you got them, you could make it work somehow.

Somebody on another board posted a photo of a moped for comparison purposes, and it made me realize that even if I can't get the bags to work on my Buddy, they ought to work on my bicycle! So I went back and raised my bid. Not enough to meet the reserve price, but enough to be the high bidder.
I'll keep y'all posted.
