Gettin' upgraded
So I just joined this forum last week and have already learned so much. I actually had a Honda Met back in '09 for a couple months, but sold it to fund the seed money for my new business at the time. Needless to say, I always missed it and never regretted getting it. Last Thursday I pulled the trigger on the Buddy 50 and LOVED it; it was much peppier than the Met. I actually loved it so much I decided to upgrade to the 125 this morning as I could see that I'd be using it a lot more than I though and could use the added speed. My local dealer here in Dallas (Dallas Vespa) actually offered to take the less-than-a-week-old scooter as a trade-in and offer me a discount on the upgrade equal to the depreciation on the 50. How awesome is that? I'm so excited. I get to pick up my new baby tomorrow.

Cool! They've been great. Could you point me in the direction of upgrades to the 125 that don't void the warranty? I've seen a couple performance kits that maintain the warranty when installed by the dealership, but it's been hard for me to track down what each one does and what their respective benefits are.ericalm wrote:Congrats, you're going to love it!

They'll all void the warranty I would think. Or at least the parts that you change, no coverage.
honestly though the 125 is pretty peppy! my 150 is a tiny bit more so, but not only just. Once you get 1000-1500 miles on them they open up quite a bit.
The only thing that some of the 125 owners around here have done is change the pipe to the prima one, saying it gives them a tiny bit more off the line and doesn't truly hurt MPG.
If you're really going to notice it that much, maybe spend the extra little bit and go for a 170i. Not much more umph than the 150, but they're REALLY smooth.

According to my local dealer, installing the Prima pipe (along with any recommended jetting/roller changes) will not void the warranty if the dealer does the installation. The Prima as part of a Stage 1 kit (additional transmission spring) does not void the warranty if installed by the dealer. Bigger projects like the Stage 2 kits (cylinder/piston change) void it.
