Psycho -- Wow!

Ok, from the minute I saw the promo materials about the Psycho coming out, I was in love with the specs but really, really, REALLY disliked the branding, which I mentioned here on the forums before. Pejorative name for the mentally ill and I don't care for it. (And as an aside I will say that Philip McCaleb contacted me after my post and was really receptive about my comments, which I appreciated. Genuine really does listen to their customers!)

But Psycho #22 at Scoot Richmond kept calling to me over the past few months, for the improved suspension, wider and more rugged tires, and better brakes than the regular 125. But could I get over my dislike of the branding?

Also, I LOVED my red Road Rambler! Buddy 125 and didn't want to let her go. But I ride so many rural roads, many of them dirt, and often not in the best shape. I really felt the Psycho would be a better match for the riding I do. Still, it was hard to take the 125 in and have it valued for trade in. It's silly I know but you do kinda get attached to your rides.

It was tough to do but Scoot Richmond gave me a good price and the moment I drove away on the new sleek beauty I was enthralled with the Psycho's performance. WOW!! Really so much more sophisticated in handling and taking the bumps and potholes than the 125. It may theoretically be a "stiffer" ride but it takes those road seams/ruptures so much better. And just overall has such a sophisticated feel. Wow, wow, wow. And to think I almost didn't make the trade!

I don't know if it's the NCY forks, the tires, or all of it -- but the sum total of the performance upgrades over the standard 125 really surprised me and blew me away. I didn't think it would be THAT much different. The improvement in ride seems like more than would be possible just from different forks, tires, and brakes!

And isn't a new Psycho only $200 more than a standard new Buddy 125? To anyone considering any Psychos still left out there, the Psycho has my hearty recommendation!

(And my Cheeky Seats cover hides the name on the seat, and my front rack will obscure that silly eyeball, which I could also take off anyway. And the slightly lower profile seat fits me even better than the standard seat.)

I couldn't be happier with this sophisticated, rugged scooter. Feel glad and lucky to be one of the 174! Again -- WOW!

Awesome! I just saw a post on FB that this had been sold so I am glad someone I see around occasionally will be on it! Wish I could come out for the first Sunday ride this weekend (I might just for snacks at the coffeeshop) but I won't be riding and a lot of people are out of town at ECC or vacations. Enjoy the Psycho.

Thanks, DC! I am just so glad I pulled the trigger and got this great ride. Like I said, I didn't know it would be THAT much better than the really quite nice standard 125.

Sorry to see you are thinking of selling your Blur, BTW!

And man, I sound like such a Genuine fangirl, but this is a wonderful scooter!

Love your excitement and am glad that you are enjoying your new ride. I was actually in the booth at Dealer Expo this year when a prospective new dealer got the news that the P-scoot (as you might be calling it), was "sold out" and "unavailable" for new dealers. The potential new dealer was nonplussed, to say the least. It's a very cool looking scoot, and as you have noticed, has the performance to back it up.

Genuine is so cool.

Might happen, might not. I'm happy either way. Seeing the GL in my "office" (haha, more like man cave garage now) every morning when I have a smoke and coffee is so rad especially considering the transformation. This weekend will be painting one hub, one rim, and maybe the saddle seat. Next weekend I get the fork back and can get that and the swingarm painted and hopefully back together soon! Later!

These are easy to install, they don't move from bumps vibrations or wind and I can see perfectly fine out of them. Plus it gives your scooter a lower profile.

Oh cool! I remember your pictures too. do they just screw in to the bar ends?

I'm getting black grips so I'd probably go with black mirrors. I already bought a set of spare mirrors so I'd probably leave those on too, sort of a buddy mod look

You have to cut the end of your grips and then they simply screw in.

I have no trouble with the bar-ends - I've used them now for over a year. Even with my full-face helmet, I only have to glance down - I don't move my head much (or at all).

Not much wider, pugbuddy, but every bit helps, plus the tires feel a lot grippier, too. Psycho has 100/90-10 as opposed to 3.5 x 10.

Psycho is an awesome scooter. Thats why I had no trouble recommending it on par with a 170i....if the Psycho is what you want aesthetically and suits your needs both practical and climate wise.

IMO those suspension bits work well. As a rider of a Blackjack with the same or similar set up, in certain situations the scooter just feels very planted when you would not expect it to. It's a very forgiving performer.

So far as it being more stable over ruts and bumps, its a 10in wheeled scooter and will have its limits. But I find the ride firm and well controlled even over some nasty stuff. If at a short riding distance.
