Hub Caps ...
Saw these one on another post, love the classic look they give over the star style stock rims. Anyone know where these can be acquired, also making sure they fit the 4t stock rims.

They'll fit. Just look for 10" chrome or "moon" hubcaps for a PX or Stella.

Nope! Just remove the cowl, battery and spare. Very simple!
I may need some for mine, too, now that I'm thinking about it.

They look good stock, but they are also a nice canvas for custom caps...I have plans for mine!

Re: also
Why would you need to take a Stella into a shop for anything other than a complete case split?! The rear wheel can be replaced with hand tools in about 10 minutes max. (used to have to do that alot when I worked at a Denny's during my undergrad: slashing the tires of the employees motorcycles was a common pastime. The two other guys who rode got real jealous of my spare tire ability)alexandercase wrote:i assume to have it installed on the rear wheel prolly should take it into a shop?

whoa
that is good to know, I am coming from a modern vespa (gts250) which was a little bit more intimidating than a stella, that sounds like a huge pain getting your tires slashed on a regular basis.

Just pop them on like a car hub cap. They only go on the left side. Don't take the tire off to put the caps on...you wont be able to get to the nuts to remount! You might want to have a buddy hold the scoot while you do it.
That's it! And don't worry about asking how to do things. We all tarted somewhere!

Re: whoa
When you work in South Phoenix, you learn never to own anything nice. When I had the time and the money, I drove an '86 Volvo 740 that I bought for $450 to work and back. Sucked gas but no one care to do anything to that. Saved the Stella for good gas mileage and for the weeknights when the drunks were less in force.alexandercase wrote:that is good to know, I am coming from a modern vespa (gts250) which was a little bit more intimidating than a stella, that sounds like a huge pain getting your tires slashed on a regular basis.

You can also check truck suppliers. I have 8 inch polished stainless steel
baby moons for a small car tire rim. Depending on the rim how the hub cap snaps on or if there are clips etc to keep tight. I like the look on the scoot but did not know they only go on the left side you can't mount both sides? Does this through the wheel out of balance?

They go on the side of the wheel that doesn't have the suspension or driveline attached, same as a car.
The right side is interesting because of the suspension and driveline details (if kept clean).
Although we humans think everything should be the same from right to left....just can't happen on a two wheeler.
Good news is we can only see one side at a time LOL.

Thanks that makes sense. I am looking at a left over 2009 2T how have you found yours overall. I heard there are some pro & con to the 4T. such as wiring issues. As long as if taken care of provides a dependable
stylish ride with mainly keeping stock or only minor mod since would like to add a sidecar eventually.

I am very fond of my 09 2T, now at 2500 miles.50CC Cape Cod wrote:Thanks that makes sense. I am looking at a left over 2009 2T how have you found yours overall. I heard there are some pro & con to the 4T. such as wiring issues. As long as if taken care of provides a dependable

But, bear in mind that I took many steps to try to 'short circuit' the little issues that members have reported.
I resecured the ground leads on the turn signals...these are known to fall off...mine were close, I removed each terminal and closed the clasp area on each.
I re-established the cable free plays as there was none.....I contend that cables, under tension at all times will have a shorter lifespan.
I removed the speedo housing (headset cover) and determined what wires were being overstressed or pulled when the handlebars were at full lock left and right and re-routed.....this is a bit of a pain but the reward is long term reliability.
In my case, the wiring was pushing the clutch cable housing hard against the sharp edges of the twist shifter.....re-routing eliminated this fail point.
I know there is more but I can't remember every step taken.
A combination of the members finding certain issues, and my background as a motorcycle/auto mechanic, have so far allowed me to do 100 mile days without concern.
You have to remember that these machines are not unlike finding a new 1985 scooter in a garage.....so they have the issues and craftmanship of their era and their Italian design.......and back then, if it was Italian, it was, uh, crap.
The basic design was reasonably sound but the execution was lacking.
Then the whole assembly line was shipped to India...to be assembled by folks that didn't design it.
Same story for Royal Enfield.
Ok, no new news here.
The 4T's have the same occasional wiring, sender, and who knows what else will crop up.
I really think the engine, be it the current 150 or the 200i down the road will eliminate a lot of the issues just because it is so much smoother.
Vibration breaks things, makes wires fall off, bolts loosen etcetera.....ask any Harley rider......when they finally rubber mounted the engine in the mid eighties, I swear 2/3rds of their problems dissappeared.
Now that they have balance shafts and rubber mounts, they just about have no failures that could be attributed to vibration.
The 4T is a two valve design, not a very high RPM setup, and has the benefit of forced fan cooling.....I think the Stella has a future with the younger rider wanting a retrobike.
But, for me, at this time in my life, the utter simplicity of the 2T driveline is, shall I say, fun.
It is that 1985 PX150 I wanted to buy but I was raising my two sons....no time or money for toys......you get the drift.
I think the 4T AND 2t are evenly capable of hauling a hack but the understressed design of the 4T would be my choice for that type of duty.
Best of luck,
Rob

I had a pair of them on my 08 avacodo...
search for bajaj moons.. there are shops that list them as bajaj moons..
they just gripped on with small piranha type teeth to the wheel.
My rear one popped off twice while riding..
So I sold them on the classifieds here..
Ive since went with the Genuine "dish" type sold at scooterworks.
good luck

I might end up doing those, I was looking for just a standard moon without a logo but if those stay on better that might be the way to go
