2008 Stella 2Stroke - Rear Seal Leaking...

the rear hub oil seal? I don't know Vespa Ps too well but on some earlier Vespas it was a pretty easy fix (you could do it from the outside w/o dropping the engine.)

I believe it's the same setup as a Vespa P150, so check the Haynes manual, or Scooterhelp.com, or http://vespamaintenance.com/

Though I'd confirm it's the same before you start pulling it apart.

do you have a side stand on this 08?
if you do.... the rear seal aint leaking.
can you skid your rear wheel ( lock it up)???

Not sure I follow this train of thought.

The easiest way to check the rear hub seal is to pull off the rear tire and wheel (brake drum) and take a look. If you lock up the rear brakes it will let you know the rear brake is working but nothing about the seal.

More info is needed from the OP.

when i thought my rear seal was leaking..... i took the hub off as you suggested...
the entire area inside there was saturated with gear oil.
i knew then that was why i could never lock up the rear wheel.
even the brakes were dripping wet with oil.
my cause was the enjine running while sitting on the side stand.
very bad for 2t stellas..

Yeah the drums and shoes can get coated if here is a big leak but it's not a very good test to check for a leak. If it is a small leak you could still be able to lock up the rear depending on speed and how hard you stomp!

What I didn't understand was how a side stand would prevent the seal leaking , and I still don't really get why a side stand could cause a leak.

As far as blowing the rear hub seal from idling on the side stand....I guess it could happen with a lot of idling but I have never heard of that before. There is no rotation on that seal when idling. Then again I don't have side stands on any of my 2T scooters but I'm just not seeing the correlation between a side stand and leaking hub seal.

the side stands dont cause the real sear to leak.. running/idling on the side stand causes oil to slap up and out the clutch vent at the top of the clut h housing. it gets flung up there... out the vent... and into the hub... the boys at stella speed told us about this.
i thought mine leaked alot. i stood on the brake pedal....too saturated go skid no matter what.... tightened it up alot.... oil all over my wheel.. all up inside.. and inside so much....
after removing the hub and brake washing everything.. no more side stand.. no more leak.. the seal was just fine..

Ok I can agree with blowing out the clutch vent. One thing I have done on my kitted scooter that I run at high RPMs is to pull off the clutch vent and put on a plastic tube to redirect the blow outs
