custom chrome bars

maybe its my father influence of 'i can make that'

but i have a hard time shelling out 400-500 for the total chrome kit when i feel i could make it (bent the pipe, weld it up, paint it) for waaaay cheaper

am i the only one trying to do this?? has anyone else made their own custom crash bars, cowl protectors, fender trim???

((ideally I want it black anyways, and I have access to a enamel booth. have access to a pipe bender, welder. might have to find some good deals on pipe. but other than that I’m assuming i could do this whole project for well under 100u$))

so i guess I’m just looking for ideas or pictures for other people attempts at custom chrome or 'bling'
