A question for Scooter Owners in the Noho Burbank Area

Hi guys! I'm a happy Buddy 170i owner, but I've run into a dilemma. With Noho Scooters closing, I don't have anyone to take my scooter to in the event of regular check ups or repairs.

I talked to Vespa Sherman Oaks, but they said if repairs need to be done, I'd need to make an appointment AND bring my own parts for repairs (which is easy if it's regular maintenance, but if I need something else done, how will that work? How will I know?

Bar Italia Classics only does Vintage (and Italian) scooters.

There's Burbank Kawasaki, but I've not heard any GOOD reviews for them online. I've gotten parts like light bulbs and mirrors for my old bike, but I haven't gotten any Buddy supplies there.

I want to know if anyone knows of a shop that is close to North Hollywood, preferably Burbank where I can bring my scoot. I'm not looking to need to tow/haul the bike a long ways for every major/minor repair. I also do not have the time right now to learn how to fix the bike. I'm pretty handy, but I don't want to take my life in my hands and repair a scoot if she goes down or needs repairs.

I am thinking to sell her just because I won't be able to get her fixed if any problems arise. Well, I suppose that's 75% of the reason I'd sell the bike, the other 25% is finances and "safety".

Any suggestions?

Give Rt. 66 in Marina Del Ray a try... I think though that NoHo is still wrenching on the bikes just not selling them...

By the way, How are you digging the 170I? I seem to remember you had trouble with the Stella. It's not as pretty as the Stella but an easier bike to manage....

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the 170i, I think that it's an excellent bike. I am SO glad I picked it over the Stella. I've not heard back from the guys at Noho/Scooter Works the last few times I called. I know there's been talk of the building being for lease, so I'm not 100% sure if they're still there or not. They helped me out in January when I needed to do the most recent check-up but I haven't been able to get a hold of them since.

I think that Route 66 may be too far for me to travel (especially in the event that the bike needs more work done). I don't know if I'd be able to make the 25 mile trek down there for repairs and I don't have a truck at my disposal.

Rt. 66 will do a pickup and drop off, but it will cost you some $ depending on the distance. Give them a call and see how much they'd charge.

Gar1013, thanks for the heads-up on that. Never thought of that as an option. I'll give them a ring! I know I have the Genuine Roadside assistance (wich I used a few times on my Stella), but that only covers so much $$/distance before normal rates apply.

I just recently had to use the road side assistance cos I had a nail in my 170I's back tire. Luckily there is a shop 10 miles from my house that would change the tire on my Buddy. Otherwise I'd have to take it to Tustin or Rt. 66...I love my Stella but it's a quirky one if not babied. The mechanic that worked on my 170I last for it's service said that the Buddy 170I is one of the easiest scoots to work on cos every thing is easily accessible...

If you have the inclination and location, doing your own wrenching is quite easy with the info provided in this forum.

As far as I know you can still get service at NoHo. You might have to scoot over there though to find out for sure.

NOHO is officially closed on Vineland. Any updates are where to take a scoot for repair in the North Hollywood area?

I've got a flat rear tire (nail i think). Any suggestions on where to take for repair?

For something like a tire, you could probably take it anywhere that sells scooters & motorcycles and they should be able to handle it.

I'll still stand by my suggestion of Rt. 66 Modern Classics in Marina del Rey though as a good place to do business with.

So the shop on Vineland is definitely closed, but the guys are still fixing scooters. They are in the process of finding a shop near the old Noho store. In the meantime, if you give them a call at (818) 861-4640, they will make arrangements to get it done

Aaron picked up my scooter this evening and is replacing the rear tire - I'll have it back tomorrow. Super great guy - fingers crossed they get the new place open soon...
