Starter/Ignition Issue

Post by areiser »

Hey Guy,

I just got an 03 and love it so far. I do have one issue that I have not been able to figure out. When I turn on the ignition my running light does not come on and the electric starter does nothing.

What I have tried so far...
- New Fully Charged batter
- Cleaned and checked the declutch switch
- Traced all the wires and confirmed the connections

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Aaron

Hey - Thanks for the response!

When the ignition is on none of the electrics work. No horn, break light...

I can however kickstart the bike and it starts right up.

Perhaps it's a blown fuse on the supply wire from the battery?

There should be one fuse out back by the battery and there is also one up front, under the horncast. Check the one by the battery first, and let the service manual be your guide.

If your fuses are good....then I suspect a bad./dead battery...good luck

Well, I feel dumb. It was the fuse behind the spare tire. I did not know it was there. Thanks for the advice.

Hope your Stella gives you many more miles of good service.
