A Buddy on Desperate Housewives!

Post by cowgirl helmet »

Just watched an on-line preview for tonight's Desperate Housewives, and saw a brief clip of one of the male characters -- it looks like Tom Scavo -- zooming by, barely hanging onto a bright red Buddy! Wish I could figure out how to post a direct link to the clip, but if you go to the DH page on ABC.com, http://abc.go.com/primetime/desperate/index, and click on the link for the second clip (headed Invasion of Wisteria Lane), you'll see the Buddy for about a second or so.

That company is doing a bang-up job of promoting itself.

I've uploaded the videos in 2 formats:

m4v (for iTunes/iPhone, etc.) 3.1Mb

mov (QuickTime) 7.5Mb (will probably play in your browser or right click to download)

Screenshot below.

I think this is one of many Buddys provided by NoHo Scooters for the fine folks in the entertainment industry.

It was pretty cool to see a Buddy featured on TV. I wonder how much money Genuine had to spend on this.... It seemed like such a random event on the show. Not sure if this is good marketing though. I was at another TV forum and people were referring to it as a vespa...

Ya damn right it is! Ever since we started selling the Buddies they have been quite popular for TV shows and commercials.

This was probably not paid marketing for Genuine. More likely, a scooter was in the script, they went to NoHo for one, he suggested a Buddy. NoHo is literally a couple miles north of Universal, where they film "Desperate Housewives."

Odds are, Genuine can't afford product placement of this sort. And if they had that kind of marketing/advertising budget, I think they'd be a little smarter about how they spent it.
