Spring Ride, Cross Country

Post by ScribeoftheBambooGrove »

More of a concept at this point, but thinking of riding my 50cc back east this spring, or maybe starting this fall, and take a long time.

Any thoughts on my route?

Well, maybe with all due respect to get a 125 or up scooter? R

Well, I am not in a rush. I have drove 50's in the past pretty long distance, and mine is derestriced. And I am digging this scoot.

Is there any other reason you think I should upgrade?

Oh, and here is a group that has a 50cc cross country ride:

I can't comment on the specifics of the route (not my parts of the country), but it seems to have the right general idea: staying off the Interstates, and taking roads that run parallel-ish to the most popular ones. In case you aren't aware of this: you can't count on Google's "avoid highways" option to keep you off 55+ roads. I trust you're taking terrain into consideration for crossing the spine of the continent?

I've done a few 1000-1500-mile trips on my 50cc, but never attempted anything nearly this ambitious. How much distance do you anticipate covering in a typical day?

Yeah , terrain is the hardest part. I plan on only about 75 to 100 miles, or what ever, but I am not pushing myself.

Actually, I am probably leaving this month and will take thsi route:

Wow... Awesome!

But if I were planning on doing this ride there's no way I could pass up an opportunity to ride down through the Willamette valley and the California coast.:

Sorry to hear you have to cancel. You should be able to plan some good rides out of North Carolina, though.

My rule of thumb for planning trips is 100 or so miles per day. That leaves plenty of time for breaks, meals, sightseeing, and so on.
