Topcase question

Post by Mary Somerville »

So I've been relatively happy with my 30-year-old pink milk crate because I haven't needed any real security for the back storage. That said, a couple of times I have thought it would have been nicer to have a little extra spot to lock up a couple of things once the helmet is in the carrier.

But I thought that the traditional topcases were too limiting for odd shapes and random things that I seem to acquire.

My local paper was highlighting this new style of locked case today--for bicycles. But I liked the flexibility of it--you can lock it, but can still use like the crate sometimes. And the extra pannier thing was kinda nifty.

Do you see any reason this wouldn't work so well on the Bud? Or do you know of others with this kind of flexibility?

I have no relationship with this project at all, just spotted it in the newspaper site while browsing.

No reason why you could not mount one of these on the rack on a Buddy.
No reason you could not make your own for that matter. Go for it!

Brilliant! Still a Kickstarter, but I'd love to see it go into production. Very smart design.

Won't fit on a Buddy rack without modification; fits on a standard bike rack. But it could be done.

Not sure of the advantage of this over a regular top case. Especially when you can get good ones for $65 or less. It doesn't look like it'll hold much when closed.

It's a good idea for bicycles, but I'll stick with a trunk for the scooter.

Thanks for the thoughts. Leaning towards trying it, with the idea that even if it's not right for the scooter it might be handy to have around for the bike anyway. But it's got a few days left on the kickstarter so I'll continue to muse on it.
