This is how we use our scooter during the Minnesota Winter!

Post by Dibber »

Using my imagination and the mind set of my hero and mentor, Red/Green of the Red/Green show and some duct tape. I finally no longer have to shovel the snow. I can even sand/salt the slick spots at the same time. Clearing the driveway has never been so much fun! Ha! Ha!. As Red/Green would say, "If your woman doesn't find you handsome at least they will find you handy". Scooter on Dudes!!!

We just got back from taking the kids to the Holidazzle parade downtown Minneapolis. Bunch of floats and people decorated with thousands of Christmas lights. Air temps in the single digits and windchill below zero as it was wipping good through the tunnel effect created by the streets.

So there we are, watching the floats go by, surrounded by thousands of people and I turn and tell my wife, "really, you Minnesotans are a little certifiable, who came up with the idea of a parade, outside, in the middle of winter with single digit temps !"

Been living here 18 years and it still amazes me.
Beer is the answer . . . what was the question?

What's more amazing is it is not just the Holidazzle, but also the winter carnival parades and fireworks in St. Paul when I am pretty sure it is even colder! Yet hundreds show up for them. (Me included)

This is what I do during an Oregon winter when it gets too chilly to ride the scoot.

Whoa! Great colors on your 'rig'! love the WW's too.

Those whacky 'Russkies' apparently found some paint other than black or olive drab. (or did you have to paint it yourself?).

His is prettier than mine was...but my Jawa Velorex looked more like the Jetson's go-cart than his does (is that a plus? I'm not sure).

scooterdoodler, if there is a sidecar involved, I like it. No quibbling here! I really want a Stella with a sidecar, handling be damned.

I can't afford one right now, but I've recently decided that I want another sidecar 'rig', but the only one I'm interested in is another vintage Jawa Velorex like the one I owned in the photo..only this time, I'm going to have it painted red like this delicious 'eye-candy-combo' I found last night while searching the net for Velorex photos......

The older style Jawa 'Velorex' sidecar just pushes about every 'good button' I have...heck, I'd buy one just so I could look at it all the time.

I'm a designer anyway, maybe I'll start to design retro-cool fiberglass sidecar bodies that pay more than a little 'homage' to the fabulous old Velorex. 8)

Yeah, they do things a little differently out there.

He had that rig and the skis here in town this week. I didn't get to try them out, but a couple of friends did. Sounds like they had a blast.
We did run the sidecars yesterday in the I-Cycle Derby. I posted a link in the "up north" thread.
