First Commute
Well, I just completed my first morning commute on my Buddy.
I had scoped and tested the route a few times over the holiday.
It started raining about a mile from my destination (OK OK I will get my rain gear pronto!) and then the parking place I thought would be optimum (at the edge of the parking lot chained to a pretty thick tree) turned out to be too unstable. So my little Buddy is sitting in the rain with nothing to protect her but her steering lock. I guess I should get a disc lock too!!!

Yay! Congrats! I envy you your good weather for year-round daily commuting.jmazza wrote:Well, I just completed my first morning commute on my Buddy.

I really like my disc lock (and the orange reminder cord). Folks in this forum debate whether they're a true theft deterrent, but if you feel safer with one, go for it!

Glad I could bring back memories!!
The ride home (only worked a few hours today) was much better. The sun is out and the scooter was dried off. Even though it's not the hottest time of the year, the mesh jacket is like air conditioning at 35 mph!!
Redcass do you know what model disc brake you got? I think that might be what I end up with if I can't get a place to lock it.

How far is your commute? I recently changed jobs and am adjusting to a longer commute and new routes. My ride home, unfortunately, is much longer due to the DWP Holiday Lights Festival, which blocks what would usually be my return route. I have to say, the difference between a 30-45 minute run and a 45 minute-1 hour one feels significant, especially since it's been fairly windy and cool at night. I'm certainly looking forward to longer daylight hours and warmer evenings.

Re: First Commute
Winter is prime time here. It can get a little dicey in the summer, very hot with afternoon "showers"....if you can call and inch or two an hour a shower!redcass wrote:Yay! Congrats! I use a grip lock topic23.html and love it. It is light, easy to use and I can just toss it in the top box or under the seat. It is also impossible to forget to take off!
Congrats on the scoot and the first commute! It always takes me a little bit to figure things out...like the primo parking places, but you will figure it out quickly! Don't forget to check out the South East Flortida Scooter Group on Yahoo groups!
