Buddy Kick in CA?

I am very interested in purchasing the Buddy Kick, but was told by the genuine dealer in Huntington Beach, CA that they are not allowed in CA because they did not pass the emissions testing. I did some research and confirmed that was the case, but I am still very interested in the bike. Does anyone know if there is any progress on the discussions between Genuine and the CA Gov Folks or if there is an ETA on when the bike may be available?

It's not 2T, and pretty much nothing comes here that isn't CA compliant (CA is a huge portion of the tiny 2-wheel market).

I think they're mistaken.

All new models have to be submitted to CARB for certification. Perhaps Genuine was a little tardy in applying and the certification review has not been completed. The Kick is a fuel injected 4T design, so it is hard to imagine it could not get CARB certification.

I communicated with the Genuine folks today and they gave me a timeframe of "Spring 2017" for when the Buddy Kick will be available in CA. The local dealers were estimating mid to end of January, but I suspect the Genuine folks would know better.
