TV program: Scooting Around Tuscany, Italy

Post by hcstrider »

Yesterday I was channel surfing when I stumbled across a TV program about riding a scooter around Tuscany, Italy. The program was on the Fine Living channel and the name of the program was “The Great Adventure: Scooting Around Tuscany, Italy”. This TV program was a welcome diversion from what I was really supposed to be doing, my taxes.

The program described a 7 day scooter tour that is run by a company called “Italy By Vespa”. The funniest moment occurred at the conclusion of the first day of riding when everyone parked their red Vespa in a row and the first Vespa toppled over knocking all of the other Vespas over like dominos. This scooter tour of Italy is very similar to another scooter tour that I have read about by a company called “Scooter Bella”. Both tours are very expensive but it was fun to watch the TV program and dream about what I would do if I had unlimited money.

I am not sure when the program will be shown again but here is a link to the program:

I gave up cable over two years ago when we moved to our new house ( my wife still gives me grief about it), but I do remember many of that channel's shows were not for the money conscious people in mind.

In looking at their website's video clips, it looks like those guys are not aware of the ATGATT, it is more like SGST (Some Gear Some Time) !

It sure looks like fun though, but for that price, it better be!

Brought to you by the same folks that do Italy by Ferrari . . . yep, so out of my pocket chain.

One can only dream ! :D

Sometimes you safety police can suck alla juices out of the joy of living, y'know? :P

I did disagree with one of the statements made by a tour promoter in one of the flics tho:
"It's not a motorcycle thing. If you can ride a bicycle, you can ride a Vespa." -That's just a bit too much casual BS IMO..!

But some of the vids there are really interesting, and fun to watch. Something I hope to be able to do someday... ~sigh~... :?

No safety police here. I just think that if the same thing was done here, they would outfit you with everything under the sun and make you sign a bazillion waivers . . . in Italy, they are more like at home (Spain), where it is your responsibility to be geared properly, or not . . . in any case, if you get hurt because you did not have gloves (or fill in the blank), well, you should know better so don't sue me. A lot more common sense law vs. let's sue everyone and then some. :D

Then again, there are also gaps on the law and someone that should get compensated, does not . . . nowhere is perfect.

But scootering around Italy, Spain, Southern France, Norway, Holland, the Alps . . . that would be sooooo cool. God I miss Europe ! :(

With the Euro at $1.54 though, it will be a loooong time before I can afford it

Yeah, and I think Canada works under that kind of French/Euro style law also. Unlike here in the USA, in Canada you're not going to get any big rewards by suing people because of your own foolish ignorance or carelessness.

I do think people should be able to sue irresponsible professionals and corporations if it's proven that any damage occured really is their fault, but a lot of common sense regarding this should also be the rule too, IMO..

I swear those tours are so expensive you could practically buy a scooter there and go tooling around on your own. I am pretty sure next time I make it to Europe I will try and rent one if I go out in the country side. stupid $ is so weak, I do not know when I wil be able to do that though.

It is a very expensive trip. For Christmas I gave my wife “Vroom With A View”. Ever since reading that book we have been dreaming about a scooter trip in Italy in 2009 but with the US dollar being so weak against the Euro this is getting to be a very expensive proposition. I just did a quick check of Scooter Bella’s 4 day Weekend Getaway and at the current rate of exchange that trip is $2,109 per person. OOOOOUCH!!!
