Should have known 125mpg was too good to be true!

I just tested the accuracy of my scooter odometer and it was off by an adjustment of 62.5%. What a dummy...it is in KILOMETERS not MILES. I am still happy with the scooter but the 75+mpg is much more realistic...LOL.

yeah somebody did just the reverse here the other day thinking that thier buddy's odometer was in km when it's really in miles

I was noticing that I get about 100 miles per tank (which is about 77 mpg).

I read most are sposed to get 85-95... Am I doing something wrong? What's the deal?! I'm sure SOME of it has to do with aggressive driving

, Most streets here have 45-55 mph speed limits and busy with all cars going (AT LEAST) 10mph over that. My neighborhood speed limit is 40mph, that's one of the slowest ones I know of. Anyways, any gas saver tips or tricks I should know about? Just checking... not that I'm dissatisfied with 77mpg, I was just expecting a little more...

Mine is rated for 95mpg but I don't think that is for a 225# rider. I am sure it is for an average sized person...about 150#s or so. I am always full throttle just to keep in traffic. Hershee (maker of the ADLY...which is the Lambretta) said they would send me an 100cc 2 Stroke after I emailed them. I would probably get the same mileage or maybe even better. It bolts right in...they sell the 100cc model in Asia. Just have to carb/pipe and get the correct CDI unit. It would be quite a "sleeper" with double the engine! From 37mph to 53mph with everything else left stock including replacement pipe and carb.

I don't know how you did your math but fill your tank to the neck write down your mileage then run around till you need to fill up again, fill it up the same amount as before and divide the miles you put on by the amount you just put in. 100 miles should be about 1.05 gallons = 95 mpg actual mileage is about 90 (speedo is 5mph off) That has been my result. I weigh 160 and ride hard

Ok... so I weigh 150 and almost never carry any sort of load. I fill up 1.3 gallons and just make 100 miles from that. 77 mpg is actually rounding up!

Krusty,
your mileage should improve after your engine loosens up, somewhere between 500-1000 BDUs. Most do anyways. Keep in mind the manufacturer mpg numbers are usually created under controlled conditions that are set to achieve the best possible mpg.

You have to break in the engine before it starts giving you a million miles to the gallon

actually 90+ miles, but still, it's gotta get some use to it! I got 75 miles on my bike today and had to fill her up, took 2 buddies to the gas station and filled them both up. Filled 1 buddy from almost empty and one buddy that had half tank left, cost? 3.50 cents! And a talk to a ex scooter rider and regrets selling his vespa.

I don't think anyone, anywhere, ever, has promised or suggested 125 mpg on a buddy (or any scooter). They do say "100mpg" everywhere, which is really stretching the truth.

There's another recent thread about this, a few people have pulled off a GPS-tested 90mpg, but real-world mileage is probably closer to 75 or 80. If you're getting 77 in stop-and-go traffic, (or 100 per tank) and you weigh more than 90lbs, that's pretty good. (miles, not 'speedo units')

Piaggio promises 60 on most of theirs, and I'm sure they don't get 50 in normal situations. The MPG rating must be determined at medium revs with the smallest possible load on the engine, without braking or accelerating.

So, I know this doesn't really have that much to do with gas mileage, but I couldn't find it in other threads & I didn't want to make a new one...

What kind of replacement oil filter are you sposed to use on a Bud125? I was gonna do my oil & stuff today if I can, but there is no Genuine dealer 'round here... Is there like another one that will fit? Obviously I don't know what I'm doing

. Any info would be great, thanks!

Krusty, is there a local Vespa dealer? I believe it is the same filter as the Vespa et2/et4.
