My day out aka Check out my new purchase

Post by SScooterG »

I had the day COMPLETELY off today (no school OR work!), so I went to get my motorcycle license!! I had taken the course a week ago, and just needed to finalize it by taking the test and paying the fee. So now I'm fully street legal!! (It was kinda fun to be illegal though 8) )

To celebrate getting my M endorsement (and being that May is my birf-day month), I proceeded to my dealer (hehe), Scootersmith, to purchase.... A WINDSHIELD!! (It's a Prima). He installed it, and off I zoomed! It will take some getting used to, but I can definitely feel a difference. I took it on our local highway where I could test the speed, and it was SO much easier going 50 mph with a windshield than without (we took the highway the first day we got them....it was nooooo good)!! The only problem with the Prima is that everyone could see what color bra I have on   I had to pull over to tuck my shirt in, and I promise to wear a jacket that zips :D I love having a windshield!! I'm definitely takin my scooter to work tomorrow!!

Do you feel much air coming in under the windshield? Something I've always wondered about this model...

looks great.
I have had some windy problems riding my scoot around 50mph, I think I should get a shield.

Also do you have extended mirrors?

Thanks everyone! I have a new found interest in my scooter, and want to ride it all the time again (like 11 at night...)

ericalm, you can adjust the windshield to any height. When we first put it on, wind was getting under because we had a one inch gap (I had to pull over to tuck my shirt in), but I lowered the windshield to where there is a centimeter gap, verry little wind gets under and i'm not getting blasted in the face. It's perfect!!

Mandyscoots, yup they're the 2008 extenda-ears - the windshield gives a one inch boost because of the hardware required to assemble. And it definitely helped with riding at 50 mph - I took it out again last night, and rode extensively at 55 mph, got it up to 60 no probs!!

Next I'm gonna chrome the edges of my scoot & windshield. I like that the Cuppini is outlined in black, I thought it'd look even better wif chrome! We'll see how that goes!!

There are also windshields which "hug" the head light, they go around them perfectly, but you gotta make sure you're buying the right year model, dont want a 06 and not have it fit the 07/08 larger head light

Yep, that would be the Cuppini windshield. As far as I know, there's not one available for the larger headlights.

...yeah that's the Cuppini model. I went with the Prima because it's 30 bucks cheaper, and it's what my dealer had.

I'm pretty good about researching what I purchase before I buy it, althought this was sort of a whim.

At scooterworks, 2007 and up :D

Mike, any relation to JFrost2?? :D You can remove the actual plastic fairly easily, but to get the metal hardware off, it may take a few minutes.

my gut says not related...I think jfrost2 is in Florida.
EDIT: ooops. jfrost is not in florida - where'd I get that? LOL

regarding the windshield: I think I have the cuppini that is the new one for the bigger headlights. My scootershop offered either the new one or to cut the older one a larger headlight opening. I decided the new one was sufficient.
