Anyone remove the rear fender?

Anyone remove the rear fender?
My rear fender (the little black one as shown below) rattles against the rear shock as i drive and it bugs the heck out of me. Was thinking about getting rid of it all together. Anyone know of a reason i shouldnt do this, other than water up my back? Thanks!

EASY AS PIE!
Well not really, this took me 1.5 hours to do.
I had the same issue, all you need is a socket wrench, everyone has one, and a 3/8 bit. There are 3 bolts that hook into the frame. One by the muffler, and 2 behind the air fitler housing.
Remove the bolts connecting the air filter housing (I forgot the bolt size, sorry) should be 3 or 4 of them, You will need a socket wrench, a screw driver with the right bolt bit wont cut it. Once you remove the housing bolts, you ccan just push it to the side.
Get your 3/8 bit again and take off the 2 bolts, they are right at the base of where the air filter was, just look for the bigger bolts.
Once done, jiggle and play with the fender, it needs to be wobbled out.
After that, Just rebolt the fender bolts back in, and rebolt the air filter housing back in.
If you have a large socket wrench, go buy one at big lots or something, get a small tiny one, all of the 3/8 bits I have required me to use a extension to fit the smaller piece, the extension is needed to get the bolts behind the air filter, but with it on, it's almost impossible to remove the first bolt by the muffler, the wrench will rub against the plastic body. So the muffler bolt, no extension, 2 bolts behind air filter, use the extension.

um... water up your engine? It's unlikely you will get wet if take it off, especially if you are keeping the rear colored plastic one. If you do take it off, you might want to figure a way to seal up all that stuff underneath the seat/gas tank, just in case.slugdugg wrote:Anyone know of a reason i shouldnt do this, other than water up my back?
