Wait, have you not had a chance to try out the 220i? They got their backup with that model.

Ok, we're headed back down the rabit hole.
This is headed my way shortly
What is it you ask? Its 'big block' GY6 cases!
These cases can be bored to between 70 and 72mm.
Those combined with the 6mm stroker crank I'll be ordering shortly
will net me between 254 and 268cc of engine.

Nope, I DID get a couple of vintages, but the Buddy is too awesome to give up on.bigbropgo wrote: cool to see this is going again. Thought you went vintage and gave up on the fantastic plastic.
I've been trying to get parts to get the GTS 250 engine going, but when I finally found the cost(It'd be about $2k more!) I switched tracks.
I've missed having it on the road. As fun as the vintages are, the Buddy handles a lot better.

Glad to see this thing getting wrenched on again! Where did you get those cases?
They're a bit different than your average GY6 cases, as the case opening is rectangular instead of square like a regular GY6.
This gives you a TON more surface space for boring. They come stock at 69mm, which is about the largest a BORED GY6 can get. They're 100% compatible with regular GY6 parts as well with the exception of cylinders/heads as they need the wider bolt spacing.

Whoo, yeah work has had me snowed under. Today is the first time I've been on MB in a couple weeks. I've been ordering parts for it again since I sold one of my 74 Vespa Supers to fund the Buddy. I've got cases in now. a 8mm stroker crank, and a 5mm dome-top piston are on the way. My other project, stuffing the buddy motor in a 64 Vespa smallframe has taken up a bit of time as well.Syd wrote:I noticed Kaos posting today, so thought I'd maybe rip a scab off an old wound. How's the project going, Kaos? (Haven't seen you around as much lately, so I guess you've been busy with that damn job thing.)
I'm getting ready to send the cases out for machining, and I'm working on the head when I get a few minutes here and there. Things should be slowing down soon so more should happen faster now.

No, it'll be fairly stock looking. The new cases are long cases, so the rear wheel will sit a bit farther back, and will be a 12" wheel instead of a 10". See the photos earlier in the thread to get an idea what I meanstill shifting wrote:Mega Buddy... Mothra. Will Mothra look like one of those low rider custom Morpheus units?
There is a graphic novel here I'm thinking. R
