it is a rough house 50
the rules for the class are it has to be a 50cc engine case to begin with and 2 studs per tire lug

Cool. I'm not familiar with them enough to distinguish between rattler and roughhouse, but at least it was a Genuine. It was holding the lead nicely!

Did you put on a knobby tire? What size tire did you use? That looked like a lot of fun. Thought about trying this on some of our frozen lakes.

It's making me wonder if anyone makes a knobby that fits the Buddy 125. I might end up looking into that for next winter.

here are some pictures of the tires used

on the rough house they are stock with 5/8 (silver rocket) ice screws with standard street tires inside of them with tubes

on the buddies we used pit bike 2.75 X10 knobbies with a wheel barrow tire as a liner, also with a tube

So...tube inside street tire inside studded knobby? Why the doubling up of tires?

Extra layer between the tube and the screws.

with out enough rubber the screws pull out and the 5/8 are the shortest ones they make, unfortunately that is longer than a stock tire is thick

and yes you have to cut the side walls out of the stock street tires leaving a sort of rubber band of tred to put into the tire you are going to use

Ah. What brand studs are you using?
I've recently (like last week) considered studded tires for next year and discovered Aerostich makes 2 scooter-specific carbide studs, the smaller of which is 6mm x 9mm. Would that work without a liner?

Ah, understood. So it's more of a "this is what's been approved to keep the playing field level" and not of a "no one's tried anything else". Gotcha.
The 'stich studs are almost $1/stud anyway...though state laws limit the number of studs you can have per wheel to much less than the rules/regs of that race circuit.

Looks amazing, though! :D
