I can assure you that if there were any solid talk of a Blur for 09, it would definitely be very near the top post. No word yet, either official or believable rumor.

I think it is a sure thing, -Gmax 200 is is already being made. Genuine needs a more broadly appealing uinisex bike for their customers to step up to should they need more power. Blur while a great bike only has so much mass appeal. I think the 200-250 market is wide open. Other than Vespa, the competitors are very maculine looking

The dealer meeting is going on right now in Wisconsin. I have a few spies there. : )

Interestingly, it's the same weekend as the Piaggio dealer meeting in CA.

yes it is interesting and probably not a coincidence. For whatever reason I am rivited to find the out what the new releases are, even though a basic google search (ie "PGO 200cc") and a little speculation tell you it will be a rebadged PGO gmax.

Peabody, the 200cc G-Max was out before the Blur was even sold here (and there was also a 250cc model available then). The 2007 Blur was supposed to be a 200, they had it on display at the dealer show, but then they decided to stick to 150 because (allegedly) the price difference vs. performance improvement just wasn't worth it.

I'm just saying that, because you sound like you might be under the impression that the Gmax 200 is new-ish.

I'd be a bit surprised if Genuine DIDN'T bring back the Blur, I'd imagine they'll be taking any bike they can get after the shortage this summer. I hope they do, because I'm in the market. But I'd rather see the 4-valve 150 model, that sounds like a winner. But I bet you're right, it'll be the 200cc bike they promised earlier.

I hope PGO doesn't go nuts for displacement like Kymco did. Kymco made a lot of great bikes between 50-200cc, now they make a few decent midrange bikes, their 50cc bikes all look pretty junky, and their high-displacement bikes seem to have some problems. They just grew too fast. Once you go over 200, maybe 250cc, you're looking at an entirely different vehicle.

I knew the Gmax had been around a while, although the only place I had seen them in the US was Hawaii. They are in Europe and I am sure Asia. I did not know they were around the mainland though. Maybe I never noticed them on the mainland b/c they don't look much like scooters. So this is exciting the release could be something other than a G max. Dumb question: isn't the Blur a rebadged Gmax?

Just my opinion but I agree about maxi over kill. I would just like to see a couple retro styled 200-250s out there besides Vespa. All these big wheel bikes are tall for a lot of people. And by people I kind of mean women. I think there is a growing market out there for a wider audience of fans. It is probably just me, but I think smaller bikes including mopeds have a lot more character and style...I just wish they went a littler faster. :D

Heck, I'd like to see them import the I'ME, I love the looks of the bike, it's like a mini blur. Though only 125cc, 4 stroke, it's going to just be like the buddy in terms of weight and power. But sportier.

Peabody: yes, the Blur is a rebadged G-Max 150.

jfrost, for some reason, I have it in my head that someone officially said there'd be no I'ME this year. It is a pretty good-looking bike, sort of a much-spiffier Kymco Agility.

I do agree there will be no I'ME, it came out just recently, and Genuine has a habbit of importing bikes that are out for a while and known for top quality. Maybe 2010 or 2011, we'll be seeing it. Heck maybe by 2010 or 2011, we'll see a 4 stroke stella that's fuel injected and 200cc.

The US is already in a vacuum when it comes to modern/sports type scooters so a new Blur would be a welcome sight for many of us. I for one hope the new 200cc is indeed a Blur(GMax) since I don't really care for the "vintage" or "retro" look/performance. I'm always in envy of the rest of the world because they have a far better selection of modern scooters. For sure my 150 will be on the chopping block if/when the 200cc version hits our shores. I know it's been said that the 200 doesn't bring a lot to the table when compared to the 150, but its' sure to have a bit more torque which whould be welcome in a city as hilly as San Francisco. Plus, it may be possible to buy a different set of final drive gears to boost the top speed a bit for more relaxed freeway riding.

Back then a member from taiwan toured the PGO factory but his camera was taken away due to the I'ME being "secret" at the time. He ended up getting banned and never got any pictures, just saw how bubu's were made.

I saw I'ME 125 in the dealer, I found it under seat pet carrier is too small and only one after shock absobor ( not very stable when taking curve).

I'ME 125 is lack of power and styling compare to other hot model in Taiwan:

Kymco Racing 150 (13.5 HP)

Yamaha Cygnus 125 EFI (11 HP)

Sym Fighter 150 EFI (12 HP)

So your 2009 G-Max is going to be a 220cc bike and not 250cc? That is a strange displacement. Can you send one to the U.S. for me? :D

You missed the really exciting news there. Read this again.

EFI is the way to get the most from small displacement motors. It's like having a carb that constantly adjusts itself. A 220cc EFI Blur would rock! I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it, though...

The EFI engine for the 150cc G-Max came out in 2008, so it's old news to me. I was more curious why PGO would make a 220cc engine when they already have a 150, 200 and 250cc. :D

Word is Taiwan will require all scooters made from 09' on to be EFI to drop pollution and up fuel efficiency. Question is will that apply just to domestically sold units or everything produced for export too? If so then we should start seeing gobs of injected scoots.

Would the 220 be a real BLUR?

Post by BlueMark »

From what I understand about the GMax 200, it isn't really an improvement over the slightly smaller 150, especially when comparing the non-US available 150EFI EVO model to the (also non-US available) carbureted 200 model. The GMax 250 used a KYMCO engine (nothing wrong with that), but due to engine size and weight had to have a conventional rear suspension rather than the gravitronic 6 bar mid link suspension with flux capacitor and inertial damping field (did I leave anything out?) - meaning it looks like a GMax but rides like an ordinary scooter.

I rode a lot of scooters before buying my BLUR, and it was the only vehicle that responded to thought. It's only real drawback (besides long distance seat comfort) was too little top end for comfortable highway riding. The GMax 200 doesn't solve that, maybe a 220EFI would.

If this 220EFI GMax has the real GMax suspension, and not the 250's, I'm very interested in it being the new BLUR. But only if it is a real BLUR with handling comparable to the 150 (I know, it would be heavier). If not, it's just another maxi in BLUR drag.

Phil McC said a while back that there would be "no significant changes" to the 2009 buddy, I would call EFI a significant change. My thinking is that the eco buddy is the EFI version and they're just bringing over one EFI version to see how it works/sells.

The typical Buddy customer has no idea what EFI is or how it would benefit them, so they'd be reluctant to pay more for it, It seems to me they're keeping the carb'ed version to keep the cost down and marketing the Eco as, well, Eco, because the advantages of EFI are hard to explain to new scooterists.

Of course, that's all speculation, the Eco might not even have it, or all models might have it. I dunno for sure.

+1 here, I'd rather have a 220cc with the same suspension and EFI.

No clue how to set that up, but I'd absolutely be in for one. Well, final cost being a huge factor, hehe.
