Improving Blur's Performance?

Post by blackblurman »

I have been researching lately, and have been trying to find the best ways to upgrade my Blur and increase it's performance. It is the 06 (?) version. I have recently started riding a lot and just want to get more of a speed thrill with top end or acceleration out of my blur. Right now it will barely even get up to speed to keep up with traffic on the highway, and I have only been on the interstate once with it and some friends told me I was only going about 55 mph at most. I am just looking for some ways to improve the performance of the Blur.

Thanks

Well, you're in the right place, you just need to scroll down on the main page.

There's a ton of things you can do, it comes down to cost and reliability. You're gonna sacrifice some mpg and possibly reliability. Look around the Blur forum for roller/slider weights, performance variator, clutch/clutch springs, windshield, exhaust and jets. If you have questions after that, ask again.

Then there's the dark art of heavy tuning... but that's just crazy talk if you've not tried other steps first.

DR Pulley gy6 variator - 130 dollars

DR Pulley slider weights - 20-30 dollars

Prima Performance pipe for blur - 260 dollars

Clutch springs - 10-15 dollars

These will give you the most noticeable performance when paired with one another. But be warned, higher rpm in the low end, more HP, and quicker activation time will mean your MPG will be killed by 20-30mpg.

Thats pretty much exactly what I have done on my Blur, with addition of the windshield, and i noticed almost no loss in fuel economy and I have a VERY heavy throttle hand! Even took the scoot 2-up over a weekend and still managed decent mpg on almost an entire tankful with the two of us. I am definitely going to need something with more power thou next year if we want to keep taking 2 wheels around on the weekend. It was tough getting the Blur past the 55mph point (actual, not blurometer) on level ground with the 2 of us. I have no problems breaking 70mph when im alone and duck behind the windscreen.

Look at the sym gv250, it may be a ugly cyclops in the front, but the back is a very nice sporty look around the tail light.
