Air Horn Fit

Post by MikieTaps »

So over in General Discussion someone was talking about where, or wether or not the Steble Nautilus Air horn would fit in the Stella. Well my buddy Stubbie has the air horn and the regular horn on his stella... he put the compressor <--- or whatever in the glove box on the left, and he said the "horns" were down lower... not 100% where, but i think it is near where the stock horn is. He has a foot button for the air horn, and the thumb button for his regular horn :D Best of both worlds...

Feel free to discuss, and I hope this helps someone out.

If Stubbie is the guy who posted about the airhorn upgrade on StellaSpeed, then he mounted the horn part under the scooter.

I fear that I would knock it off in about one day.

I really didn't like the look of the foot switch either.

I hear of applications where the entire horn is placed in the glovebax.

I bought a Stebel a year ago and have yet to install it on Stella.

I've seen pics of one that was in the glovebox. They marked an area the size of the output portion of the horn, drilled holes to allow air to pass and then put a rubber gasket around the rim to get a good seal and mounted to the bottom via L brackets.

I just hate to do any cutting or drilling. But, I'd like a more powerful horn.

If you don't mind losing your spare, it will fit under the cowl easily I think as an alternative.

Stebel horn

Post by PeterC »

The Stebel Nautilus horn will also very handily clamp on to a RRC4 wraparound rear rack on the lefthand side. That way, it's a lot easier to install wiring. Where is it written that a 139 dB horn must be on the front of the scooter?

It is not written, but I do like my ears.

The point is to deafen others not yourself.

I wear a helmet, and I'm half deaf anyway (thank you, U.S. Army basic training), so it doesn't bother me at all. It is, however, capable of causing cardiac arrest in elderly cage drivers.

the stiebel horn install is the same as the old school air horn install.

left cowel. Position it under there. There is plenty of room next to and around the spare tire. plus you have power right there too.

the old school way was to run the horns under the body and attatch them on the legshields just under the front fender. Real custom.

+1 on that. It is rated at 1 decibel less than a .30-06 rifle at the muzzle. Tends to get people's attention, even in this retirement community where Helen Keller is still alive and driving.
