Scooterworks in Chicago will be getting these in about one week, I'm told. I'm curious if anyone else plans on purchasing one of these, and when other people's shops are getting them in.

For the past 2 months I have heard "in the next few days" and "about a week". My local dealer always says it with a laugh to let me know he doesn't believe it either.

However, to tide you over there are some great snaps of the SI125 at 2strokebuzz. IMO looks great. They are just amateur pics, but they make the scoot look much better than the promo pics that have been available.

My dealer (The Motorcycle Shop in San Antonio) has been pretty straight with me -- he's always said they'd be arriving in late February, and it looks like he's gonna be right. He's got two on the way (and one of the new red ones) and they're right now in the hands of the intrepid U.S. Customs Service. Should be next week, unless PGO is branching out into other, more illicit enterprises...

Ive ordered an italia through a dealer in RI. They told me 4 weeks which would be sometime the week of February 26th.

i am seriously considering one. i am waiting for noho scooters to get theirs. a couple weeks ago they said "a few weeks". i was thinking of going there tomorrow to check. maybe i should call.. they are quite nice looking. i love the color choice. of any of the buddies it would have to be that one for me.

anyhow i am hoping to test ride one ( and a few other scooters) to make it definite or not.

I agree; the Italia looks great! But I wouldn't buy one; not with those tube tire whitewalls it comes with! They may look cool, but I been riding too many years now (and have had too many flats) to ever want to go back to riding on tubed tires again...

yeah i agree that tubes would kinda suck. i guess that would be my first "mod". and what the hell is with them putting them on anyways? oh! and i just read somewhere else here that noho will probably be closed tomorrow since the vegas thing is going on. and if i remember correctly he said they'd be closed for most of the week.

IMO it's because the scooter (and motorcycle) manufacturers know that too many of us care more about appearance than safety, and of course they are very willing to take risks with our necks just as long as it's profitable for them..!

I don't think I've ever seen tubeless or radial whitewalls available for motorbikes. It seems that if anyone wants them badly enough they'll have to be willing to put up with the increased blow-out dangers consistent with tires with inner tubes and unsealed beads. Not for me tho; AFAIC that kind of tire technology was totally obselete by 1947!!!

They generally don't make tubeless whitewalls for motorbikes. But just to be sure I checked with my Buddy dealer and he confirmed that yes, the whitewall tires on the Italia are tube types....

Okay, so here's the fix. You remove said tube-type tires. Buy some fabulous tubeless tires of your favorite denomination. Remove your rims. Paint the inner part of the rim the body color of your scooter and the outer ring-part of the rim white. The effect will be whitewall tires (forever) without the hassle of tubes.

This picture from 2strokebuzz would seem to indicate the SI gets the larger headlight...can't comment on the LEDs in the taillights, but would assume its just a like all the other 07s.

Why? I have heard 2 stroke gets better miles to the gallon, but will it give me the same top speed and/or HP? I have a basic understanding of the mottor, so stay fairly general.

No, the 50cc is a 2-stroke, and the 125cc is a 4-stroke, as in the past.

2-stroke engines historically produce more power than a 4-stroke of the same displacement, but they burn oil with the gas, so they pollute more. Because of the pollution factor, they're rarely used in engines larger than 50cc these days, and the regulations are getting tighter.

I'm not sure how 4T vs. 2T affects gas mileage, I don't think it does, but I could be wrong.

Allegedly the 50cc two stroke Buddy can get better mileage (at least that's what the Genuine site said). But since you have to run it WOT all the time to keep up with traffic, the mpg is lower than what people have reported for their 125cc four stroke Buddies. I get about 70-75 on my 50cc (wish I'd bought the 125)

Two strokes will generally get worse gas mileage than a four stroke of equal displacement. The trade off is more top end power. The reason the 50cc Buddys will get better mileage (or at least equal) is that they are less than half the displacement.
